Guest Room Facelift

We ended up taking on a project today on a whim.  I was joking with Hubs that he should attempt to pull down some of the Packer themed border in one of our guest bedrooms.  I wasn't expecting him to actually do it - I've kind of been nagging him about updating that room since we bought the house, but we've never actually done anything (it's the room he grew up in and he's such a sentimental sap) - he really surprised me when he was on board for changing it up.  I spent a good part of the evening scraping wallpaper (Hubs watched Breaking Bad and the Red Wings game and brought me ice cream - lazy bum), but I already think it's a huge improvement.

Here's the before:

And this is after:

My FIL is going to come over tomorrow to patch up the crack in the ceiling, and next weekend I'm going to be painting.  So exciting!

Re: Guest Room Facelift

  • What!?  You didn't want that Packer border!? Every Packer fan has to have a Packer room!

Haha, my grandparents have a room that looks like the Packer Pro Shop.  It's got floor to ceiling Packer wallpaper, a Packer bedspread, shelving full of Packer trinkets, autographed Packer photos, and just about anything else Packer-related you can think of.  I mean, I'm obsessed with the Packers, but their room is like sensory overload for me.  You can have a sports room and do it somewhat tastefully, I think.

Looks good so far!  Tearing down wallpaper is such a pain.  What color are you going to paint it?

  • The Packer border had seen better days - after being up for 20 years, it was falling down in a lot of places and was looking kinda ghetto.  Luckily the wallpaper was only on 2 walls, it was just the border on all 4, and it came down pretty easily.

I think I'm going to paint it light gray - clean, modern, neutral, and easy to accessorize with punches of color.

  • As a green bay fan, all I can say is....for shame.  For shame.

I will sit in my corner and weep silently.

  • haha Good for you!  The room looks better already!  :-)  It's nice to get things like that done or at least started.
  • Wow it looks so much different without the wallpaper. It will look nice with the grey paint. Post a picture when its all finished!

  • That's a great improvement!  I can't wait to see the final product!
