Spanish Nesties

I know you guys are busy with work and babies but if you come across fresh cranberries (especially LadyMadrid) will you let me know?

I can only find dried cranberries here. TIA

Re: Spanish Nesties

  • I can't even find the dried kind.

I'll look, but I have low hopes. Maybe Lidl would have frozen cranberries?

You'll laugh, but you know what went really well with the turkey last year? Blueberry marmalade.   SIL had heard that in America, we eat the turkey with "mermelada de aranadnos."  I thought it was so sweet that she had found blueberry jam to bring that I didn't have the heart to tell her there's more than one type of arandano. I gave it a try and it was quite tasty!

  • In the Corte Ingl?s they sell blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and some other type of berry but they dont sell cranberries. I think it is kind of strange since you can find cranberry juice now.

I am going to check Lidl. Last year, I asked the fruit guy if he could bring me fresh cranberries but he told me that he could only get dried.

How did you eat the blueberry jam? Just on some rolls?

I can go to the American store to get a can of cranberry sauce but I have seen some great recipes that call for fresh. I guess you cant subsitute fresh for dry?

  • It's a half hour to the closest Corte and it's a real nightmare to find anything in that dang dirty old supermarket. I've heard they're now pushing cranberry juice for UTIs but dried cranberries are still expensive. GMIL bought a TON of cranberry stuff in the US!

We had the blueberry jam just like you'd traditionally use cranberry sauce. It was actually wicked good!

I'm so totally jealous you've got all sorts of stores like the American store within reach. I suppose I could order online but that can get expensive.

  • Sorry, I've only ever found dried and they cost a ton!  GL with the search.

  • No cranberries - neither fresh nor dried - in the local Lidl.

On a side note, if I'm going to make chocolate chip cookies can I use azucar moreno de ca?a or am I "SOL"?
