Two weeks until I can tell!

Ugh, OMG! This is going to be the two longest weeks ever from now until Thanksgiving! We are only going to tell my parents/siblings, Jeff's parents/sibling, and both my and his grandparents. Hopefully they can keep from blabbing until Christmas when I will do the public Facebook reveal (Rach, you should know I REALLY wanted to put something pessimistic there, but I'm trying this new optimism thing out..).

So, anywho, since my family will all be at my house for Thanksgiving dinner in the evening, I'm REALLY considering coaching one of my nieces to say when we are done praying before we eat, "And thank you for my new baby cousin." She is really coachable and a great ham, it is just keeping her from telling her mom before we eat!!!

For Jeff's mom and sister who are in Texas, I'm going to call a couple flower shops in the area to see if they will deliver on Thanksgiving Day. I think one might. Or, I will enlist the help of Jeff's stepdad. Anyway, I'm going to get my MIL a bouquet of flowers, and my SIL a smaller one, and have the cards read:

Happy Thanksgiving Grandma Jo/Aunt Brandi! See you in June!
But, shh! My mom says I'm still a secret!

What do you think??? I think I will disable my Facebook from accepting any wall posts that day until I can talk to everyone so they understand that they can't put anything on there about it until I do at Christmas...

Re: Two weeks until I can tell!

  • Love both ideas!  I think both families will love it! I can't wait to hear how your neice does telling everyone.

  • 1) I'm proud of your optimism!

    2) I still love the idea of your little niece telling. It makes me die a little just thinking about it.

    3) The flowers are a wonderful idea for your family that won't be with you.

    4) Crazy how facebook has become such a concern with our lives!!! The only thing I can say about disabling your wall is that if you do so, people might suspect something is up just based on that alone (a girl I know did this and it's like um, what is she hiding? bc she was a frequent wall-poster and status updater). Just something to keep in mind!

  • Ditto Julie!  I think they are both great ideas!!

Maybe with your niece could you have a secret signal so maybe it would help her from saying it too soon?

  • Aw, I love both ideas!
  • I ditto Rachel, I love your optimism!! And your ideas are great, they will be so much fun for people to find out that way! Oh, and "Don't worry, be happy" (keep saying this and even better, sing it! It is infectious to sing that IMO)

    I ditto all of this!!!

  • Lisa - I have this little wooden thing my grandma gave me after I got engaged. It has been in our family for a long time, and she wanted me to look at it every time I was stressed about the wedding. I still have it on my desk at work. It does help to look at when I get stressed! : )

  • Those sound like great ideas!!
  • I think it's all a great idea! Both the ideas of letting the family know as well as disabling FB. Good call on that - sometimes people forget and slip up.

BTW I have to give a lot of commendation to all the ladies who can go months without spilling the beans.  I can't hold anything like that in - I'd shout it from the highest hill ASAP.  LOL!  Kudos to you for keeping the big secret!!  :)
