're' introduction

I thought I should introduce myself, or I should say 're-introduce myself'. I used to come on this board ages ago (when the nest first started). Prior to that I spent a lot of time on the knot planning my wedding that took place almost 8 years ago (yes I'm old!). I'm an American that's been living in the UK for 10+ years (I'm even now a British citizen and spell like one) with my Irish DH. I've lived in Bristol for some time, then briefly in Newcastle and now I've been in London for 5 years.

I stopped nesting when I moved to London because my work was really busy and I got out of the habit. However now I have a baby and an iPhone and seem to spend lots of time surfing net and lately have found myself here.

I realise my screen name is totally random (I chose it because I got married near Dublin, but didn't think that it would be a tad misleading as I don't live there!) and I really should change it and my old post don't seem to show up anyway....

So Hello!

Re: 're' introduction

My ILs live there, we are heading there for Christmas (unfortunately :)We lived in Jesmond -our house there was twice as big and half the price of our London one:(  Newcastle is lovely to visit, nice walks in the countryside followed by some cozy pub sessions.... but cold!

Congrats on your son! Was he born in London?

Jesmond is a lovely area, dh lived there after uni and his cousin lives there now. His family is in Whitley Bay, so outside of Newcastle. I don't mind going, but Newcastle is not my favorite city in the UK by any means! Where in London are you now?

Congrats on your son! Was he born in London? Yes he was, I had him at a place called the Birth Centre which was a midwife only birthing centre which closed a few months after I had him which is a shame.

  • Hi! DH and I are Americans living in London and expecting a baby in a few weeks. We're actually neighbors as I'm in Wandsworth too, East Putney.

  • Hello! And yay for more south London girls!! I'm in Wandsworth too... just near Clapham Junction.
  • Hi! Welcome back!
  • Hello! I've been around for ages (I'm old too), but I'm barely on myself these days - mostly because I've got two kids and don't have an internet-able phone! :)

I live up north of Newcastle and I actually like it (Andrea, I think your DH has tainted your view - it's got so much going for it!).

Haha, it could have more to do with having to visit the il's when we are there :) I think it has some nice areas but I also think, like all cities, it has some not nice things!
