Happy Monday?

My weekend was both low key and crazy.

Saturday during the day I worked on finishing up the trim patching/painting in our back room while Derek and his brother assembled and hung cabinets.  Then we picked Erin up from work and headed over to have dinner and my parents and help out with some electrical.  Then, on the way home I HIT A DEER.

Thank goodness it was a windy twisty road up a hill so I wasn't going very fast, but she jumped out right in front of me so there was nothing I could do.  She got up and ran away right away, so I hope she's ok.  My car survived with pretty minimal damage, a dent in the hood and some paint/rust came off.  Of course, she hit one of the only rust spots on my car.  We're going to try and pop the dent back out tonight, but I'll more than likely be paying to get the paint/rust fixed.

Sunday was low key.  More paint for me, more cabinets for Derek.  All of the uppers are completed and all but 2 of them are hung.  I think my goal for this week will be to get the walls at least primed and the ceiling painted.

How was everyone's weekend?

Kari, I can't figure out how to respond to your question on Elfster, but we went with $20 ($25?) for the exchange!

Re: Happy Monday?

  • Ugh, a deer hit. I'm glad the damage wasn't too bad, and that you're okay, too. Hopefully it'll pop out, or be a low-cost fix. Last year we hit one and ended up with some heavy damage. Not fun, but our insurance took care of most of it.

This weekend was nice. Josh came home late Thursday night. We then relaxed for the rest of the weekend. We both had a lot of website volunteer stuff to get done (reviews, editing, scheduling), so we worked on that together. We did our errands, went to the gym, spent some time outside. Overall, a good weekend.

Hope everyone has a good Monday!

  • Oh man that really blows Raynes, but at least your okay and your car wasn't severly damaged. Hopefully the deer is okay too.

This weekend was very fun and relaxing. Saturday was my birthday so Eddie took me out to the movies and a very nice dinner. A good friend of mine  also met up with us so it was rather nice catching up with him.

Yesterday my mom had a BBQ at her house and invited my inlaws. The food was delicious! Overall we all had a good time.

  • Eek! A dear? That sucks.

It is a Monday, isn't it? I realized that there are only 5 more after today until the Christmas holidays - isn't that insane?

I wish I had something to say about today, but I feel like it's pretty much just going to be par for the course, you know?

In TMI news, can I just emphasize how much I hate PMS symptoms now that I'm off the pill? My boobs hurt so much that I can barely take the water pressure of the shower on them. Eurgh.

  • I ran into some crazy traffic this morning, so I took an alternate route to work where there was...more traffic. Ugh. I can't wait to have a new commute. The giant upside to this new job is going to be my new commute. Fingers still crossed. Still waiting on an interview/lunch date.

Tonight is super relaxing TV night. Jackson has been going to bed super early and sleeping like a champ, so I'm excited. Last night he put up a bit of a fight to actually go to sleep, but a few minutes in the vibrating chair was all it took to knock him out for good. I think since DH had him all day yesterday, his napping was thrown way off and he didn't know what to do about it. I'm just glad he got in some daddy time and realized it's not so easy to get things done around the house with baby in tow. It's not just me.

Just wait until you're KU!  Then it's like that, but always!  Fun!

  • Morning everyone.  My day today should be pretty easy.  I'm just going to try to get a bunch of the small things crossed off my list.

Yesterday's chili cook off was fun, although the Bear's game went on FOREVER!  I'm not the biggest football fan, and a long game just makes me cranky.  On a happier note, we found that the friend we went with is pregnant.  I'm super excited for her and her DH.

  • Omg Raynes, the thought of hitting a deer seriously terrifies me.  We don't have too many where we live now, but my parents' area has a ton and I hate driving at night there.  So glad you're ok!

Snoopy, hope you hear about the unofficial interview soon - that's very exciting!

Our weekend was mostly spent adjusting to the new pup and getting her adjusted to us.  We took her for lots of long walks, to the dog park (she seemed to like the people at the dog park better than the dogs, so we'll have to keep working on that) and just tried to acclimate her to our neighborhood and our place in general.  H had a friend stay over on Saturday night who was passing through town for work, so that was kind of poor timing since we'd only had the dog for a matter of hours when he arrived.

Tonight is supposed to be yoga although the Monday night class I like had a sub last week who was AWFUL. It is supposed to be an advanced class, and she definitely taught it as a beginners class - I almost walked out last week, and ended up writing a long complaint letter to the gym.  Well, turns out she is now taking over as the regular instructor for Monday night classes, so I'm going to have to pull out the b!tch card and ask her before class if she plans to teach it as an advanced class tonight - I don't have the time to waste in a class that is not at all challenging. I'd rather do cardio. Ugh, sorry for the vent - I am still frustrated from last week!

  • @ raynes - I'm more worried about you than the deer or the car.

My weekend was pretty good.  We got Friday off (we don't usually) so I went to the gym and ran a bunch of errands to get ready for Sunday.

Saturday, we slept late, had some yoga, went to the grocery and B.J.s and I cook most of the appetizers.

Sunday I went to church while Jim did laundry, hosted a Thirty-one party (yay for hostess specials) and we had dinner at SILs.  I finished a quick scarf also.

This morning will be wrap up of our event on Thursday.

Thanks reba.  I was pretty shook up, and had a good cry once we got home, but other than that, fine.  I'm sure mini raynes was going nuts with all the adrenaline.

  • Raynes - Scary, they (as well as moose) are all over the place here. Thank god you are ok!

Lets see my weekend stunk.  DH and I fought Friday night and didn't resolve it until Saturday night when he finally got out of bed. Lets just say he was "recovering" from Friday night, and I was NOT impressed.  I usually don't mind, but I had things I wanted to to Saturday and did not get them done.  Plus I hate showing up to MIL without him to pick the boys up because I have to explain to her where her son is.  I just tell her he is still sleeping when I want to be like, "your dumb arse son got absolutely obliviated, and now can't get his butt out of bed."  Sorry feels good to vent.

Yesterday I ran errands and bout the boys boots, snow pants, water shoes, sandals and mittens all in the same purchase. Ha ha.  I then spent the day snuggling.  Lastnight was a nightmare because Zach thought it was play time from 2:00 am until 4:30 am.  It ended with me crying for an hour out of exhaustion.  I pray tonight is better and I get to actually sleep.

    Have a great day ladies.

  • Good morning. My weekend was pretty uneventful. Saturday morning I made the dinosaur cake for the birthday party, it turned out really cute! We went up to my older sister's house for the bday party and pretty much stayed just for cake and gifts then left. After the party we went with my younger sister, her BF, and my nephews for dinner at Chiles.

Sunday J woke up with a terrible cold so decided not to go to his cousin's daughters first b-day. We ended up just hanging around the house all day. I did a quick clean and laundry then relaxed on the couch and watched Christmas movies.

Nothing exciting today, J is still sick and stayed home so I'm happy to be at work! Men are such babies when they are sick!

  • It is SO windy here.  I get to drive to Denver today for a conference on Love and Logic tomorrow.  I am glad that I am taking my car not a company car, because I know how mine handles in the wind.  I am trying to finish up this Spanish paper that is due to tomorrow but since I wont be there I will turn it in today.  Ira Glass was great, and everybody should see him.  Have a great Monday.

  • Omg raynes I'm so glad you're ok!

Happy Monday all. We took our little family trip to Niagara Falls on Friday which was ok, but we didn't hang out at the falls much because it was really cold and windy. We snapped a couple of pics but I haven't even downloaded them yet to see whether they were decent. Oh well. We'll try again in the spring. On a brighter note, we did take the opportunity to go cross border shopping and got some cute Christmas sweaters for Darian. And girl scout cookies! I was really excited about those because the Canadian Girl Guides don't have the same variety of cookies available.

Saturday was pretty uneventful. Sunday, we went to church at our old parish. V discovered that the children's liturgy (Sunday school) is really fun so I think we'll take Darian to that from now on when we go to church. Much easier than trying to keep him quiet at mass anyway. Then we took a walk in High Park to see the fall colours, which kinda made up for the crappy Niagara trip.

  • raynes - so glad you're okay.

We had a low key weekend which is just what I needed. I got caught up on laundry, did some reading and spent quality time with DH and Olivia.

Today is my brother's birthday, so we're going to have pizza and cake before he heads out to a concert. After that I have to make a quick stop by Target and then to WW. Have a great day ladies!

  • Good Morning! Sounds like everyone had an exciting weekend.

I was so sick saturday I didn't move unless I had to since everytime I did i found myself throwing up.

Yesterday I felt much better and DH and Jordan got to go hunting. Jordan killed his first deer. He was so excited and is still on cloud 9 this morning. I am sure everyone at school will hear the story haha. He took the picture to show his friends. It was a rather small deer only a 4 point, but the way he talks you think he killed mouse.

This week should be rather low key. Jordan has his surgery on Thursday so we are going to be doing makeup work most of the week, but since soccer is over now that means we should have plenty of time to get it done.

  • @ raynes - I'm so glad you're okay. Moose on the highway in Alaska always scared me. And thanks for the $ amount of the gift exchange.. I was remembering both amounts as well.

Weekend was uneventful for us. I never heard back about the job - so I'm assuming they went with the other candidate. Though I am a bit peeved since they said they would let me know either way.

3 Day work week for me. We're headed to Vegas!

  • raynes - that is scary.  Glad it wasn't more severe.

I posted in the worry post about my 5K yesterday.  I'm going to try not to worry but whenever it's 'quiet' and I think about how I was feeling during the run, I worry again.  But i think I'll always be nervous between appointments and that seems normal.  I just know I can't 'race' for my next race.  Just jog it.  But I just get so excited.

Just grabbing a quick bite then back to work.

  • Afternoon!  I had a great weekend--lots of running, lots of cooking, relaxation...

Today was fine at school, if anything, my kids were better behaved than usual.  Then I left early for a doctor's appointment--we have a plan to start bloodwork and get Ed a S/A, so that makes me feel like we are at least moving forward.  I'm hoping we'll get PG this month and I won't have to get the results, of course, but at least we start...

  • Good afternoon! I'm just checking in quickly from Dayton.

raynes - I'm glad to hear that you're ok.

My hotel here is old and they've already turned on the heat for the winter. My room is about 80 and I can't cool it down so I slept like absolute crap last night. The training today was good though. And we got out a bit early and then I came straight back to my room to watch The Hunger Games trailer. I'm very pumped for that movie now.

I also heard that the town that I live in got hit by a tornado today. Kyle isn't home from work yet so I have no idea what's going on there. Supposedly it touched down north of us though so hopefully everything at home is ok. I feel bad for the cats and dog who were home by themselves today and all hate storms. I'll post an update once I hear from Kyle but I'm assuming that everything is ok or one of our neighbors would have tried to contact us.

  • Raynes: I'm glad you're OK deer are out like mad here too, trying to get laid and what not :)

Today was kind of crazy I spent more than an hour on the phone with a crazy parent, and wasn't able to get much done. It was crazy!

Now I'm relaxing with a local seasonal brew about to make dinner.

Also my legs STILL hurt from dancing, apparently I like to dance hard.
