Headache help!

I am prone to migraines, but luckily did not get them when I was pregnant a lot.  The past few weeks I have been getting dull headaches, but nothing bed.  Well last night I got a good one.  I took something and went to bed, woke up in the middle of the night and took some more stuff as it wasn't gone.  Luckily this morning I was feeling better.  Well about a half hour ago it came back full force.  I just went to Rite Aid and bought some Excedrin (tension headache, not the migraine stuff because I will limit the stuff I take because of pumping and this one does not have asprin).

Anyone have any good remedies short of crawling in my bed in my dark room with my head squished between two cold pillows?  I am at work and am the only one around this week so going home really isn't an option.

Re: Headache help!

  • My XSIL gets really bad headaches quite often, and she used this stuff she would rub across her forehead. I can't think of the name of it, but I've seen it in commercials on TV. I imagine Rite Aid would have something like that.

    Good luck! Headaches suck :(

ETA: It had a really cheesy name like Headache-Be-Gone or something like that, and it looked like a giant stick of glue

  • I'm sorry you're feeling crappy. The only thing over the counter that works for me is a combo of aspirin and caffeine (so, I take either excedrin migraine or extra strength). That takes the edge off so I can sleep, but I have to sleep to really get rid of it. Without it, I have to let it get bad enough that I throw up, then sleep it off.

My biggest pregnancy related fear is my migraines. Maybe call your doctor? I know there are some things they can give you.

  • Jo, this one made me really nauseaus last night.  I know when I have a migraine because I do throw up.  I hate it.  I was so nervous abouut pregnancy for this reason too, but besides one bad one I had in the beginning I didn't have headaches while pregnant!  I was dehydrated because I had such bad MS and they think that caused it.  But I was also told that some woman who normally have headaches get a reprieve from them while pregnant.  I got lucky!

I usually take Excedrin migraine, but couldn't while pregnant/breast feeding.  The tension headache one has the same ingrediant as Tylenol, but also has caffeine in it. The Migraine ones just add the asprin too.  I had never used it, but I am feeling some relief so I give them a thumbs up so far!  The only problem is that it doesn't truly go away at times like this.  It is always right there "daring" me to do something for it to come back.  haha  I can feel it almost if that makes sense.

Amanda, I have never tried that before!  I may have to invest in it and see if it really works.  When I get a migraine I will try anything!  They suck
