1. MIL brought her kitten. I told her not to, but DH convinced me it would be OK. I was stupid and fell for it. DH has 3 years of cat experience - I have 24.
2. My kitties did not like said kitten. Morganna hid (per usual) and Auggie hissed and was angry.
3. DH kept trying to calm the cats down and "fix" things. He wouldn't listen to me. We fought pretty openly in front of the ILs.
4. MIL brought me baby shower favors. I'm not even KU. Sure, we're kind of trying, but really?
5. MIL is selling her house (she lives 4 hours away) to move back down here so she can be near her grandchildren. Ummm... what grandchildren?
6. MIL has told 2 of her 3 children she is moving back - DH and her daughter that lives down here. She hasn't told her daughter that lives up near her. And, she called her a "dud". WTF?!
7. MIL decided to go to bed at 8:30 pm because she generally works the night shift so her schedule is out of whack. We live in a 1 bdrm and usually they take the bedroom but because her schedule is so out of whack and she'd be up by 3:30 am she got the living room.
8. DH and I were effectively banished to our room at 8:30 pm with our cats who are NEVER allowed in the bedroom.
9. The cats freaked out in the bedroom and annoyed DH who was not really talking to me at this point.
10. In the AM MIL wouldn't let me make them breakfast, wanted to make it herself, then decided they would just go to McDonalds on the way to her daughter's house.
11. MIL pretty much keeps telling DH he's fat and needs to eat better (which he is, and it's kind of insulting because I cook really healthy food). Then, she proceeds to go to McDonald's for her breakfast AND she brought us 2 boxes of cookies for a "snack" and each cookie has 220 calories in it. Um, no wonder DH doesn't like veggies and fruit for snack. She raised him on crappy processed food.
OMG.
Quick, eat this before you start feeling the effects of the story!
Re: My MIL Nightmare
This story is making me bust out one of my favorite lol cats.
I don't get why she brought the kitten. I would only introduce a kitten to other cats if said kitten was staying. Find another solution for going out of town for the weekend.
Agree with PP - is she gone yet? Either way that sounds like a really crappy weekend.
I find this to be possibly the strangest thing of all. Can I ask what they were?
They are these little bassinets that you put candy in. Totally not something I would ever pick for my own baby shower. She used to work at Party City and gets all this crap for like a quarter when they are trying to get rid of it. I had to turn down a lot of doves and wedding bells for our wedding.
If you think this is weird, she has a whole closet of diapers saved for us. She used to run a daycare, so like, I get that she has extra diapers and stuff, but don't they expire and isn't that jumping the gun just a smidge?
I'm so mean.

Honestly - I don't think that's mean, I think her hoarding diapers/etc for yet-to-be conceived grandchildren is bizarre. Donate that stuff to a womens shelter or church and let them get used by people who need them now.
Having kids isn't a given - some people really struggle to get/stay pregnant and some people just don't want kids period. I find it a bit presumptuous of her.YES! This will be wonderful!
I'm surprised your DH wasn't talking to you at one point, it's not your fault, HE is the one who convinced you to let the cats come, it's his own doing!
I agree w/Booger, donate the diapers, I don't wish this upon you, but who knows how long you might have to try. We have enough Nesties on this board who are/have had troubles getting pg for years!
Not sure if it's good or bad that she lives closer, at least she wouldn't have to stay w/you, but............
