Talk to me about Pressure Cookers

I'm thinking about adding it to my Christmas list. Anyone use one on a regular basis for cooking dinners? Brands you recommend? What do you like to cook with it? Go.

Re: Talk to me about Pressure Cookers

  • i have a presto one that I really like. One thing that I do prefer is ones with a handle, makes it easier to move to the sink as those things are heavy when full.---chicken and dumplings, stew, roasts, etc. There is a nice little cookbook that comes with it.
  • My mom and dad have one and they use it to cook veggies.
  • My husband uses it to cook pork carnitas Yum!!
  • I have the 6 qt Fagor Express and I love it.  I cook a lot of dried beans (takes 20 min with cool down).  I have also made applesauce and pork tenderloin.  My favorite thing to cook is a whole broiler chicken.  It takes 20 min and just falls off the bones.  Once I shred the chicken I throw the bones back in the pot with some veggies and make homemade stock, again only 20 min.  I certainly do not use it to its full potential.
