Trader Joe's vs. Whole Foods? (vegan food)
Which do you prefer? My brother is vegan and I need to buy butter and a tofurkey for him (don't need to him but I want him to have options to eat). I'm going to make like mashed potatoes but use vegan butter in it. I've heard it taste pretty similar to regular. Target had organic butter but it was $4.99 for 4 sticks! I don't need that much so hoping one of these places sells a smaller, cheaper amount. I've never been in these stores.
Re: Trader Joe's vs. Whole Foods? (vegan food)
I buy vegan butter at Whole Foods when I have to make dairy-free cakes. I use the Earth Balance and I think it tastes pretty close to regular butter. You can also buy the same brand at Hy-Vee in their Health Foods section most of the time.
I've heard of Earth Balance as the best as well - we have it just generally b/c DH likes their spreadable butter.
My sister is vegan and she has said she appreciates that TJs clearly labels things as vegan when they are, so if you are buying or making other things for him, that's definitely a bonus.
Another vote for Earth Balance "butter." We used it when E was allergic to dairy and still keep it on hand. It works really well to bake with also.
I don't know about tofurkey specifically but I think WF would be better than TJ's for that. I prefere WF in general though.
