Restaurant for Thanksgiving Dinner

Hey ladies,

I have kind of a random question. I am new to Omaha- we transferred here for my husband's job and I am a full time grad student at Creighton.

Anyway, we are looking for somewhere fun to have Thanksgiving dinner. It's such a hassle to cook for two, so our tradition when we can't get home to see family is to go out (and let someone else do the cooking and the dishes!)

Just wondering if anyone has any Thanksgiving restaurant recommendations.  It doesn't have to be traditional Thanksgiving food and we are totally open on the price point. Typically, we have gone somewhere  "fancier" for T-giving, but we are open to whatever.

Would love to hear any of your ideas! Thanks!

Re: Restaurant for Thanksgiving Dinner

  • I called Lonestar Steakhouse last week for a take out order for work, and they mentioned they are taking T-giving reservations!  No clue on if it's a special menu or not though...
  • Last year we went to one of the casinos for their buffet. I think it was Horseshoe and it was good (ie: I found stuff to eat that didn't make me puke from the all-day-morning-sickness).

This year, MIL picked and we are going to Golden Corral. (Not my pick in a million years, but they have salad and dessert!)

  • We did Mimi's last year or the year before?? Can't remember.  It was okay.  I guess I foolishly assumed it would be just like a normal day and you could just order whatever off the menu, but no.  Set meal/set price.  Not even a kids menu, so you can imagine how well that went over when they brought the food to the kids and they just stared at it.  LOL!  And we went pretty late, so they were out of some of the food already and it was a LONG wait.  I couldn't believe how many people were there!!
  • Casinos!! They typically always have a good selection. We've done that for Christmas before!

  • We ate at Quaker STeak and Lube on Friday and they had a sign up for T-Day dinner.  Call for reservations.  Definitely not what i think of for T-Day dinner, but wings for T-Day... yes please!  :)
