Double strollers anyone?

I know it's early but I'm trying to figure out which double stroller I want now, and maybe I'll get lucky and find a good deal (maybe a black friday deal) on something in the next few weeks.

What do you have and would you recommend it? Whatever I choose needs to be compatible with a Graco infant carrier. The Graco double strollers don't seem to have great reviews.

  • I have the City Select and LOVE IT!  IMO it is worth all the money.

Register at Buy Buy Baby, their completion coupon is the ONLY coupon to work on the stroller.

For the stroller (500) + 2nd seat (150) (which you need no matter what to make it a double) + car seat adaptor (60) +mommy consol(30)+ plastic food tray (20) for J it was $715 after discount including tax

I have the Chicco adaptor since that was the carseat we had  although like the snap and gos I really don' think there is a difference but they are also the same price for the different ones.

IMO the bassinet is a waste of money, yes they can nap laying down in it but they can also nap in the car seat and by 6 months can sit in seat and recline for naps.

  • this is the one we used... Graco quattro tour duo stroller racer edition I have always been happy with it. its easy to steer, we did attach the carseat to it, but its more comfortable for the kid in front NOT to have the seat attached and just have baby lying down in back section.

this is the one my sister got and swears by its reviews.... City Mini Double

  • do you guys think side by side versus tandem makes a big diifference?

it only makes a difference when they're bigger and old enough to pull each others hair, bop each other on the head, and kick each other from behind in a tandem stroller  (yes, in my personal experience hahaha)

  • Ha ha! I was just thinking that the side by side is just so big...that the tandem may be easier to get around.... and at least with the city select it does turn back into a single stroller...where as the side by side is always a side by side.

A friend of mine got the city select when she had her DD.... (she is a month younger than K)... and I remember like mocking her in my head for buying such an expensive stroller... but boy am I eating my words now!!!!

  • I am looking as well.  Just wondering what made you ladies choose the select over the Mini.

I was set on a tandem thinking they were easier because they are narrow and found a really nice chicco.  Then I drove the citi mini and fell in love!  BRU did not have the select so I did not test it out.  Just wondering what made you choose that one.

    Thanks so much!

  • Originally I had Chicco-  Which I stil love and have 2 of for my house and moms.  I looked at Graco and Chicco doubles because of price.

Then I started looking at the City Select and started asking people who had that or the City Mini Double.  Everyone loved the Select more.

The side-by-side complaints were shopping and fitting around things, in a single wide it is hard in some smaller stores so I decided no side by side, also for the kids seeing each other it would be harder.  And when you only have 1 kid its awkward.

Select- I love how many positions it can go in. It can be a single stroller for just the carrier or just a seat (like a snap and go).  It is a much smoother ride.  I have walked 1/2 way up hunter mountain with both kids in it, hills (it is heavy but all are) so you get a nice workout.  Basically you can notice the difference in quality.

If I had KNOWN I was having 2 kids close I would have started with the City Select Jogger.  I am recommending it to friends who are trying or pregnant and do want a 2nd within 2-3 years.

**Look for adaptors on craigslist and other sites** Also if you have a chicco carseat, Depending on how quick C outgrows her carseat I may have mine avaliable!

  • We already have the Chicco double (child care reasons) but, I don't think it will fit in the trunk of my car , it is ridiculously heavy and there is no way to open it one handed.  But, we have the Chicco car seat and so, nothing else needed.

So, we are looking at the City Select and the Britax B-Ready right now.  They both work out to be about the same price (trying very head not to think about that) and get good reviews.  We just need to find time to go to BBB to try out both and see which we like better.

  • I tested the Britax also at BBB and thought BJ was better. I really like that you can take apart stroller if you need to and in my car now I keep half the backseat down all the time (j is back there too) and I can close stroller with both a seat and adaptor really easy. If my bench is up I do have to take bigger wheels off. And the seat.
