Dealing with a Relocation Company (As a buyer)
Anyone have any experience dealing with a relocation company? Specifically Altair Global Relocation?

We are in the process of buying from a relocation company (Cartus). The process has taken longer than we had anticipated. We offered Oct 26th, countered back and forth, accepted their counter Oct 28th and still have not received a signed contract. We offered with only our prequalification letter, but have since received pre-approval. They were waiting on our pre-approval to sign contact, but have had it for a week and no contract yet. We have also done inspections and addendum for a couple of repairs and no word. Their realtor says that they have "verbally accepted" but we are waiting on signed documents. This far my only complaint is that things seem to take much longer to get done since they are not there in person with the realtor to get things accomplished. We had set closing for Dec. 1 (we don't have a home to sell), but I would guess it will be mid December before we close.
I was the seller using a relo company.
As a buyer, request all inspection documentations from the relo company; it will save you money. My home had two full inspections, pest inspection, and legal review to make sure there were no liens, outstanding HOA items, etc. Our buyer was on a VA loan and looking to get in without any money out of pocket. They relo company turned over copies of the inspections once they offered on the home as a way to move faster.
If you have your finances in order, you close in under 30 days. In my case, the VA loans were taking up to 60 days for paperwork approval from the govmt; the slow down was on them, not us or relo.
Also, you can get a great price on a relo home; the company does not want to hold onto homes. Don't be afraid to offer on the lower end! Our buyers offered 6K below asking and closing costs and the relo company accepted the offer. I was paid out on fair market value; the final price of the home did not affect me.

By relo rules, I had to market the house for 60 days. After 60 days, I had the option to accept the buy-out offer on the house and turn it over to the company. If the house sold within the 60, I received the real estate commission on the sale price as a bonus. For the house to placed on the market now with a Jan relo is well within time frame.
