@ Diaper sizing difference?

Anyone know if the diaper sizes in the US are different than in Europe? DD is in Pampers size 3 over here, and my mom is asking what size she should buy in the US for our Christmas trip, but I don't know whether EU 3 = US 3.

Re: @ Diaper sizing difference?

  • They are different. They do have weights listed on the package so if you know how much she weighs (in pounds, of course) tell her that instead of a size number.

  • W wears a 4 here and in the US.  I'm pretty sure they are the same.
  • a pampers size 3 is for 16-28 lbs

Thanks. Here size 3 is for 9-20 lbs, so there's quite a difference! I put in her height and weight in the US pamper's diaper sizer (found it after I posted here), and they put her in a size 2. I added a few pounds and inches for what she might weigh in a month when we travel and she was still a 2, so I guess that's what we'll go with!

  • Oh, Wow!  My bad.  :)  There is a pretty big difference.
  • There's a huge difference. When we went back to the US last year, DS was in 3's here, and because he's so skinny, he wore 1's for the two weeks we were there.

She may need a bigger diaper by that time anyway. Don't know how big she is but my DD switched to a US size 3 Pampers right around. 6 months. She hadn't reached the weight limit yet (I think she was between 15 -16 lbs) but started peeing through her diaper at least at night.....just something to think about.

Thanks. DD is about 14 lbs now, and the 2s in the States say they go up to 20, so she should still be in the weight limit. If we end up needing to buy a pack of 3s for at night, then so be it. She's a preemie and slowly but surely catching up to her adjusted age, so I can never really go by age recommendations.

  • My almost 18 month old is still in 3's! She's about 22 lbs I think.
