Re: Monday Moans
I shared my moan in an earlier post about Thanksgiving.
My other moan is just looking forward to get parent/teacher conferences over with. They go from 3:30-8:30 both this Thursday and next Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, they go from 7 am-12. Luckily, Wednesday is a half day!
We get two full days for first quarter conferences. That stinks that you have to stay late!
We have our American Education Week activities in my grade level today. I'll have parents in my room from 12:45-2:45....blah.
Had a bad migraine last night that is still here a little bit now this morning. Plus we have a lockdown drill today so kids will be a little nuts with the change in schedule.
The teacher whose leave I'm covering finally emailed me yesterday- changing where she wants me to be in the curriculum when she gets back AND asking me if I could extend my time in her room AGAIN. Originally she was supposed to be back on the 7th of next month, then it was the 14th, and now she's not sure when she is going to come back, but is definitely coming back in December before break starts. I told her I was leaving mid-afternoon on the 14th to go of town and I haven't heard from her since. Oh well.
Someone I used to work with is super competetive & kept asking stuff about my job. I know the terms of his position when he was hired (he told everyone), I traded a big "start-up" package (to buy things for the lab, get a lab started, etc) for a salary that is 100% covered by the university (rather than most science faculty that need to get grants to cover anywhere from 50-75% of there salary after a couple years). I have enough- and I know I will eventually be productive when I have time to actually be in the lab. It just drives me crazy- can't we just go to dinner and enjoy the fact that the four of us who were students/post-docs together now have good jobs that we each love??
