Hi. New Here.

Hola.  Just wanted to introduce myself.

I am Kristin.  I am a working single mom of a 2.5 year old - and now also dating after divorce.

I post on single parents but also would like some input from this board- you guys seem to have some good advice :)

  • Welcome! I recognize you from the SP board. Even though you think I'm ignorant, I think you'll like it much, much better over here.

FWIW, my post about taking DV seriously was just sharing a story on my local news. People think it can't happen to them, but don't always realize that the sick, crazy abusers don't stop at just their spouses/SO's.

I used to work in a women's and children's shelter for victims of domestic violence. So, no, I'm not ignorant when it comes to what DV entails. I may not know what it's like first-hand like some women on here (yourself included) but that doesn't make me ignorant.

Well, I'm glad you are at least informed then.  The post itself just seemed to be a bit of a drive-by.  I think it did need a bit more explanation that just because someone leaves a violent relationship doesn't mean the violence from the abuser stops.  I also felt like the message put a blame a little bit on the shoulders of the victim in that "if you dont get out of a violent relationship/or were in one, great thanks, now the rest of us are in danger!" ... know what i mean?

Anyway, thanks for the welcome.  And ftr, I didn't think *you* were ignorant, just the message as i saw it in that post.
