S/O new Twilight- spoil it for me please? :) >spoilers<
I read the first book or so.. Then just got too busy. Or it's just not my "type" of book. I've seen all of the other movies with my sister. We always go see them at midnight when released, which we've planned for the movie this week as well. So... help me catch up so I understand the new movie? You don't have to go into too many details.. just catch me up so I'm not totally lost please! Thanks ladies!

I'm confused.
You've seen the other movies, right? So why would you need to be caught up for the new one..?
the preview pretty much tells you what happens:
wedding
human/vampire sexin'
human/vampire baby makin'
pregnancy sucking life out of Bella, much tortured brooding by Edward and Jacob
worst baby name in the history of man given

Haha! Totally agree with synopsis, especially the bolded part.
That's a pretty good breakdown.
my read shelf:
I totally forgot they left that left out. Now I might actually see BD just to know how they play that off in the movie. I wonder if they'll just leave it out since it was ridiculous to begin with.
They can't leave it out. It's pretty important for someone's part.
my read shelf:
Wait....what? I'm totally blanking here.

I assume she means Jacob and the imprinting. But I think this is pretty easily explained. I'm imagining at scene like this somewhere before the wedding:
Jacob to his friends - I love Bella. I want her to love me like Sam and Emily love each other. (that is there names, right?)
Sam - Well Jacob. Our relationship is complicated. I imprinted on her.
Jacob - WTF is that
Sam - quick explanation
Done and done. Imprinting is set up for later.
my read shelf:
Oh. I guess I just forgot they didn't explain that in New Moon with Sam and Emily's relationship. I remember them leaving out the Quil/Claire thing, but eh. I'm sure they can quickly explain it when it happens in BD.

This is very important IMO. Imprinting was explained but NOT in this situation......
my read shelf:
Well then if they explained imprinting already then I'd guess they'd replace my above scene with the Quil / Claire thing happeing. Maybe it happens, Quil freaks out, Sam explains that imprinting just means that Quil loves Claire and will do anything to protect her. It doesn't have to be sexual and until Claire is old enough it isn't sexual, more brotherly.
I don't even thing it was explained that well in the books??? I kind of thought she just sort of threw it at you and the reader had to figure it out on their own.
Yes it was. It happened in Eclipse...Bella was grossed out and Jacob explained everything to her. She then understood.
my read shelf:
I know that it was in Eclipse but I don't think it was explained that well. Except pretty much exactly what I said above. It is like a brotherly protective love till the girl is older. Then once she is older, she can choose to recipricate the love or not.
I still think they can add that in at the beginning of this movie pretty easily.
my read shelf:
Ah right! Bella won't know. Yeah, that could be a problem. I hadn't thought about that part of it. I was just thinking that they'd need to let the viewers know about it but you're right, somehow there should be a scene before the big scene where Edward and Bella learn about the kid imprinting.
my read shelf:
The previews do show a pretty physical fight between Jacob and Edward...maybe this is when it happens? Or something of that nature. Just an idea.
If you read the book, you know it isn't Edward who wants to fight Jacob. That might be during the wedding.
my read shelf:
I did read the book.
I'm just throwing that idea out there. During the fight scene in the movie preview, Edward's shirt is covered in blood, which means it probably takes place some point after Bella's labor/delivery. I know that the director added in some things for dramatic effect, so I figured it could be a possibility.
What she said. There is several bits where you see Edward covered in blood fighting Jacob, then there are wolves showing up. Not in the book, but I think Sun has the right idea. There better be a Rose/Jake fight in there somewhere or I'm gonna be ticked. Jussayin.
There is also a scene where you see Quil hugging a girl about his age maybe a little younger in the new stills they just released. I'm assuming that's Claire and Bill Condon took out the toddler thing. Ease the squick factor, maybe?
my read shelf:
Jacob explained imprinting a little bit in New Moon movie to Bella. So it's not like it was missed completely. Yes, it should have been explained more but it was in the movie.
I honestly hope they don't waste air time to go into a deep discussion about how imprinting works... to me that's book knowledge.. you don't read the books then tough luck.
There are wayyyyy more things that I'd rather see in BD then another explanation of how imprinting works. Jussayin
I am not saying they need to explain it in BD, which is going to happen anyway since they didnt do it in Eclipse like it was done in the books. Bella couldn't wrap her head around the thought of what she saw so Jacob had to explain how it worked in THAT way. I know it was done in New Moon...it was done in that book as well but only in the same way it was done in the movie.
Should be interesting seeing Jacob try to explain to Bella how it works in the situation that happens lol.
