For Thanksgiving, do you put your stuffing inside the bird or make it separately?
Re: QOTD Tuesday (stuffing)
I cook it in the bird. I feel like it stays more moist that way, and it frees up my oven for other stuff.

it comes in a separate container from Harris Teeter
that's where our Thanksgiving meal, all prepped, just needs to be heated, comes from and I LOVE it
well, i don't make the stuffing! we have never hosted and it's never been on my list of things to bring.
that said, i prefer my stuffing to be made inside the bird (though i'll eat it anyway i can). i think it dries out too much when it's prepared separately. my mom makes a killer oyster stuffing inside the bird. OMG YUMMMMM.
DH's family makes cornbread stuffing and cooks it separately. it's pretty good too.

My family is crazy for stuffing, so we put as much as possible in the bird, then put the rest in a separate dish.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
Note: my aunt insists that "stuffing" = in the bird and "dressing" = outside the bird.
In any case,
we stuff the bird and cook the rest in a separate dish. I never used to like it, but it has grown on me now that I switched to sourdough.
Maybe it doesn't matter much, but we always insert a thermometer inside the stuffing (in the bird) to make sure it's hot enough to have killed off the bacteria. This might just be to make ourselves feel better though...

Seperately, since we fry the bird!
I'd be interested to know if there is a correlation b/c those that reported that turkey is dry & those that put the stuffing inside the bird.
I do outside b/c we like lots and stuffing the bird means it takes longer to cook...which tends to dry it out. I use chicken or turkey broth to make the stuffing so it's still got the flavorful goodness of poultry.
