Camera suggestions for a 5 yr old?

Alex loves to take pictures with my digital camera and my phone.  I want to get him a camera for Christmas but I don't know what kind.  I saw one by Fisher Price for kids.  Does anyone know anything about this one?
I just want something durable to that is easy for him to use.

Thanks!

Re: Camera suggestions for a 5 yr old?

  • We have had the FP camera for about 3 years now, and it has held up well to all kinds of abuse/play. Both of my girls have loved taking pics with it. Mind you, the images aren't the best (though they look better on my computer than on the camera's own image display), but the kids don't care. Last year, DD1(6 y/o) got 2 other digital cameras for Xmas...one from MIL and the other from me/us. We figured she might be ready for a slightly more streamlined version, especially since her younger sister had taken over the FP camera. They were both inexpensive cameras, not toys...but the designs suggested they were aimed toward the pre-teen group. They were lousy....the FP took better pics and was made of better materials.

This.  Tori got the FP camera and the older girls got cheapo regular digital cameras.  The FP one was definitely better.

Ditto.  Between Kaitlyn and Sam it's taken a beating and has held up remarkably well and still takes better pictures than the cheap-o camera Micaela got from her dad.

This is the one that we are getting Jackson for Christmas.  It was recommended by several people.

I have heard nothing but negative reviews regarding the FP camera.
