How much do you pay for housekeeping?

I am looking for a replacement for our housekeeper and was wondering what the median cost is. Right now we are paying $60 a week for our 1900sq ft house and would like to stay within that range but find someone that is not damaging our home in the process.

Re: How much do you pay for housekeeping?

  • About that size of house...$70 every other week.

  • ours is 3000ish sq feet.  She charges me $65, but I pay her $80.
  • Wow, we have a 2600 sq ft home and pay $80 every other week. They also do about 4 other houses on our street and do a good job so I am reluctant to find someone else, but I really wish we paid less.

  • $90 for 4900 square feet twice a month.  I should pay her more Sad
  • $80 for 1700 sq ft. We used to pay $60 but she has worked for us for 4 years so last year we gave her a raise.

Can you tell us what is happening?

I'm curious because I think our housekeepers aren't careful either. Some of our wooden blinds are broken, and they keep scuffing the paint on our walls. Seriously...I can think of 3 rooms they've scuffed since starting a year ago (it *is* our fault we used flat paint, so the scuffs don't wipe off easily.)

Is this normal? Am I being picky?

  • Our house is 3100 sq feet but there are several rooms we do not use - just the two of us and 2 dogs. We pay $100 every two weeks for 4 - 5 hours of work.
  • $80 every other week for 2000 sq. feet. (3/3.5...but only 1 bedroom that needs sheets washed on a consistent  basis)

  • She has been cleaning our house for a year now and in that time our brand new dressers have been scratched multiple times, paint has been scratched off the wall, we have an area on the stairs where it looks like her vacuum burned our carpet and just last week she put a nasty scratch that is about 2 ft long into our laminate.
