Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Re: Where did you go on your honeymoon?

  • New Jersey ... in May. I'll spare you the details except to say "don't go there for YOUR honeymoon!" :)
  • Key West -- it was fun.

If you like nightlife and bars and historic attractions, KW is for you. There are only a few beaches and mostly they're on the kind of rough and rocky side.

If you go, see the Hemmingway House and take a trip to Fort Jefferson at Dry Tortugas. Takes about a half hour by prop plane, 2 hours by catamaran. It's a day long trip.
  • Ireland! It was awesome!

  • Hawaii (Kauai and Maui).  It was a great trip if you like adventure.  A lot of money, but I'm happy that we used XH's money on it  :)

  • Daytona Beach.  I got incredibly sunburned the day after we arrived because my H went to go take a nap and I lost track of time building a sand castle.  It was nice and sucky at the same time.

We did a second honeymoon to Rome & Paris a couple years ago and that was way more fun.

  • We did a Mediterranean cruise.  We started in Barcelona and stayed there for a few days.  Then we left out of Barcelona and went to France and Italy (Rome, Pisa, Monaco, and another town in France I can't remember the name of).

  • I'll preface this by saying that H and I are not traditional, by any stretch of the imagination.

We were married on a beach in CA. We then spent a week in CA... beach, Universal Studios, wandered around Hollywood (eeeww... but got some good pics), drove up the Coastal Highway to San Simeon and toured Hearst Castle a few times, then went back to LA and flew home.

    Did laundry and packed again.

Drove to Williamsburg, VA for a week. This part has turned into a yearly vacation for us... we wander around the historic areas, do some shopping and then we wander out of the tourist area to find the off-the-beaten-path local hangouts. There is some gooooood BBQ down there.

  • We went to Italy. We spent 3 days in Venice, a week in Tuscany, a week on the Amalfi Coast (in Nerano, near Positano) and then 3 days in Rome. AMAZING!
  • Canadian Rockies. Awesome.
  • Petit St. Vincent - http://www.psvresort.com/

    and

    Barbados - http://www.thecrane.com/

It was insanely fabulous. Like, Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous fabulous.

I'm going to go cry now because it is going to be a while before we can go on another vacation like that.

  • Europe (Rome, Paris, London). It was wonderful!

  • I went back to work. Six a.m. on the Monday after I got married. Then we spent the rest of the day with his extended family.

  • Got married in San Diego area. We stayed in Solvang, CA for the honeymoon(aka, the Danish capital of America). Little touristy town. Eyup.

Also, I was getting over mono and came down with some bad viral thing while there. So I spent most of the time sleeping. I guess it's good we were in a nice quiet place where nothing was happening.

Afterwards we drove up to San Francisco, back down to San Diego, out to San Antonio, and finally ended up back in Dallas area. It was a lot of driving. Good times.

  • We went to a Couples resort in Jamaica.  It was great fun until we evacuated due to a hurricane coming.  They hadn't had a hurricane for the past 20 years!  Maybe that should've been my red flag about the marriage! lol  Anyway, when we got home we just took off driving and ended up in NH and VT.
  • Cruise to the Bahamas
  • We went to Costa Rica.  We had a fantastic time.

I very highly recommend doing something all-inclusive if you can.  It's so nice to be able to leave your room carrying nothing but swimming gear (or just nothing) instead of worrying about how much money to bring along.  You can eat whenever you want, grab a drink at the bar, and you've already paid for it.  All-inclusives are my favorite vacations.

I second the all-inclusive thing.  I'd have a hard time going back to a vacation that wasn't besides a cruise.

  • A week in England and France, and then another week hiking in the Swiss Alps.
  • HAWAII!!! A week on Maui, and a week on Kauai... LOVE it there. We also recently went to St. John for a week for our babymoon, also AMAZING!! It would be a great honeymoon destination as well!

  • Paris - and it was amazing. Best decision we made during the whole planning process. We had a cheaper wedding so we could afford an awesome honeymoon.

I am so glad we bucked the tropical honeymoon norm - we aren't really lay on the beach people.

If you are interested, we stayed here: http://www.lemeurice.com/ and I would highly reccomend it :)

  • We went to St Lucia and stayed at Sandals. It was really really great there! Good food, beautiful room, and lots of fun activities to do. I wish I could go back. But with another man of course. :)
  • St. John! It was awesome!

It's funny, we went tropical but we only laid on the beach one day.

Oh I know it is totally possibly to do tropical without laying on the beach all the time (we have since gone to Hawaii twice, so I am not trashing tropical - love it too!), but I think many people's Ideal honeymoon is some vision of laying on a tropical beach all day. Which is awesome if you like that kind of thing, but that is just not us.

  • We went to Japan for 2 weeks. Neither one of us had ever been before. It was a great trip with a lot of interesting experiences.

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
