Baby shower gift ideas?

DH & I are invited to a shower next month, we may or may not be going (I dont like the mom to be AT ALL).  We got the invite and it says they are registered at babies r us, and to bring a pack of diapers.  They arent registered for much.  How much would you spend, and any gift ideas?  It's a boy, due in Feb.

Re: Baby shower gift ideas?

  • So you're expected to bring a gift and a pack of diapers?

I would be leery of getting too big of a pack of diapers b/c some babies have bad reactions or don't fit right in certain brands.

Is this their first child?  Maybe some onsies, bath towels, bath toys.  I liked the gifts I received that were for 6 months or so after Chase was born b/c I got a ton of stuff and clothes for up to 6 months but not much after that.

I like to do a themed gift, like bath stuff...soap, towels, toys...etc.

  • Like J said you are expected to do a gift and diapers? If you did diapers I wouldn't buy a big pack because you never know what brand they might end up with, of they have a reaction, etc. for example: P wears a size 1 in pampers but the size 1 in Huggins was a little snug on her and the NB diapers in pampers fit her better then hugged.

You could do a pack of Pampers in size 1, a box of wipes (I like pampers), some butt paste, and maybe a travel size thing of wipes. You could also throw in a couple of sleepers or onesies. Just put the gift receipt in there with the gift.

If you didn't want to that you could do like a bath gift and put a cute towel (Peyton lives her towels), some soft wash clothes, some bath wash, that nighttime lotion (P loves it) and maybe a few onesies.

  • On the invite, it states where they are registered then under that with a ** it says Bring a pack of diapers for the diaper drawing.  What's a diaper drawing?!

Thanks for the suggestions so far!  I was a little taken back by them wanting diapers AND a gift too.

  • If it is the same thing as I read about on the baby shower board it is where for every pack of diapers you bring you get your name in the pot and at the end they will draw a winner and you get a prize.

So I dont haaaave to bring a pack?  Bc I dont care to win a raffle, LOL!

  • No and honestly I think it is a little tacky to put that. I know you can get deals on diapers but if you buy a gift and diapers you could honestly spend $40 or so dollars. I would only spend that much for a close friend.
