Life update! Moving to Chicago :)

I'm not sure if you remember my post a few weeks back, about the big life changes ahead for DH and I.  We were trying to decide if we should move to a big city (Chicago) for DH's job (even though it's retail - he's getting his MBA to open his own business).  Another benefit to Chicago was that I interviewed for an internship with a magazine there, and as a writer, it's much easier for me to find jobs in bigger cities.

Well, I still haven't heard back from my internship (she said I should know by late November), but DH got the job in Chicago and we are in the middle of the moving process! We are staying with my parents (about 2 hours outside of the city - so DH has a superlong commute for now) until our apartment is ready on Dec 15.  DH is liking his job. It was a move from department manager to consultant (even though the pay was the same) so he's hoping to move up to a management role within a decent amount of time.

I'm still applying around. I have a retail background as well, so I've been applying in merchandising jobs (which could hopefully lead to corporate writing positions) as well as at news publications and and in social media marketing roles. I'm hoping to find a job sooner rather than later, but we'll be okay until I find something.

Our new apartment is FABULOUS! Right in the trendy (albeit pricey) part of town, which we love because we're young and are looking forward to a fast-paced city life. We're going to store our cars at my parents' house becuase we are planning on taking public transit while we're down there (parking is way too expensive, and driving is way too inconvenient in the city). I AM SO EXCITED! Just wanted to give everyone a little update :)
