I judge names

I was watching a story about a man who had a normal name like Patrick.  The story had nothing to do with his sisters but I had to laugh that they were named Crystal and Sparkle.

Re: I judge names

  • I judge names too. I really judge when people give their kids awful names. I run into it all the time at my job. I always think "What exactly were your future hopes for your daughter when you named her Stormie?"

I went to high school with twins named Rocky and Stony.

We miss you and love you always, little firecrackers!
  • Me too ALL the time...the names are gettting worse and worse as parents try and beomce more and more original.

  • So do I.  And usually my judgement is "Wow- you're parents are dumb.".  A stupidly spelled name, or made-up name, isn't what is going to make a person "unique" and forcing it on your kid isn't going to change who they are.

come on how are you going to deny that a name like coolandrea isn't cool?

Yep, that's exactly it. I saw a "Maxton" the other day. Maxton? I mean, it's not as horrible as some other names I've heard recently, but it sounds made up for the sake of being youneek.

How is Evie these days? Still looking as cute as ever? Big Smile

She's doing well! Just had her birthday party last weekend. It was a Tangled theme. She's obsessed with Rapunzel lol.

It's just hard to believe she's already 2! Crying

    How are you? :)

  • When I was young, I was 100% certain that I would have two boys and name them Ridge and Thorne.  This is what happens when you're raised on a steady diet of CBS soaps.

Nowadays I think a child will be yooneek if he/she is given a proper name.

    This is my siggy.
  • Oh I love her costume, so cute! I am doing well!
  • I have a family friend who named his daughter Velvet.  If that's not setting your daughter up for a career in the "exotic dancing industry", I don't know what is.

Maybe they wanted her to be a jockey in a black and white movie?

Thank you! Glad you're doing well! Hopefully I'll be in NC soon. We must do a GTG with just adults! Big Smile

  • I do too, there was some crazy chick on the bump who named all her kids after x-men characters and one of her posts was asking what name we liked best and they were all code names. And anytime people said none of them, it was responded with "There's nothing wrong with unique names." I'm sorry, that isn't unique, it's just bad. If it was a characters first or last name or something, ok I guess, but a code name? Come on now.

I'm friends with a pair of twins who's parents named them Arwen and Faramir. Yeah, Faramir totally didn't get his @ss kicked everyday of his school life. Confused

  • I do also.

And the bad part is when someone tells me what they are going to name their kid and I don't like it, I can't hide it, it shows all over my face.
