**Naylon** and others who have used OPKs
So, I went to the Dollar Tree and loaded up.
I can see on the table when I should start testing. What time of day is best? Should I try it multiple times a day?
Re: **Naylon** and others who have used OPKs
Oh dear...pretty sure I don't need anymore crazy..lol. My charts are making me crazy enough..."Looks like you ovulated day 10...no make that day 23...no wait, day 26....oh look, there's AF" AGH!
I am in my 2nd month of OPKs. Naylon suggested to me to do it twice a day. So I test at about 1p and then when I get home from work at 6p. Month one I only got a + at 1pm on a Wed. This last month (1.5 weeks ago) I got a + in the am and pm on a Fri. Then nothing the next day. So for month one, I would have completely missed it had I only been testing in the pm.
Good Luck!
I tested every morning when I got up. I also used these:

They are a little pricier, but to me it was worth it to know for sure whether I was or wasn't and not have to compare line darkness.
I'm not an OPK user, but I am a full-on pusher of cervical mucous and cervical positioning over anything else (yes, even temp).
For instance, I know that I am fertile right now (SEXY time tonight!) because I have a high soft cervix and eggwhite CM with a sweet smell. I know that I have ovulated when my cervix moves down and hardens and my CM dries up. I'm not saiyng drop the OPKs but I HIGHLY suggest recording CM and cervical positioning. :-)

FWIW, I agree. I used OPKs as another tool (besides temp and CM). I cannot reach my cervix and/or have no idea what I'm doing. LOL. My CM is always very predictable though.
I'm so bad at learning to read my cervix
My understanding is that you're supposed to test in the afternoon after you have gone at least 2 hours without peeing. If you're using the cheapies, I would test twice. Maybe around 1 and again around 4 or so.
Personally, I didn't have luck with the cheapies. Using the same urine, I got a positive on a First Response and a negative on a cheapy. The no peeing for 2 hours before in the afternoon was difficult for me, so I ultimately switched to the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor which uses first morning urine. I really like the monitor but it is pricey. For me, CM was not necessarily a good indicator. I had EWCM multiple times within a cycle.
It takes a bit of practice, but I promise it will get easier. Just wash your hands (obviously) and stick your middle finger up your vagina and feel for your cervix. Sometimes you have to really reach.
