What are you making or eating for thanksgiving for dessert?
I'm doing a pumpkin gingerbread trifle (from pinterest), apple pie and I'm trying to think of something along the chocolate lines.
Re: thanksgiving desserts
Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars
Cranberry Chess Pie - Williams Sonoma recipe
White Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Blondies
Buttermilk Pound Cake
Paula Deen recipe? I have made this for years and people love it. I am not a huge pumpkin fan and I love it!
I am making Southern Comfort Apple Pie, and others TBD.
I don't know if I'll be making this but here is a good buttery chocolate bundt cake recipe.
that's the apple pie i'm making, thanks to foodiebride!
Crazy Christmas Kids!
Well that's no fun =(
Our family tradition is this recipe for Pumpkin Cheesecake w/ Sour Cream Topping - it's from an old copy of Gourmet magazine my mom and dad had and is amazing
I'm also doing mini assorted pies - pecan, pumpkin, maybe sweet potato, and a fruit pie I haven't decided on
And these "petite gateaux" cupcake things I make that are chocolate cupcakes split into layers and filled with flavored ganache, then coated in plain ganache
maybe they're trying to be nice thinking that it'd be easier on you??.....btw, cuuuuute turkeys!
The real question is are you allowed to use your own pie dish and do you or do you not need to provide a knife?
That would really irritate me. I don't mind being asked to bring only a couple of desserts. But why don't YOU get to choose what you make?
Perhaps though they could just tell me I am in charge of desserts and not tell me what I have to make!
Thanks - I kinda like those little turkeys of mine ; )
Crazy Christmas Kids!
The SoCo apple pie is awesome - I hope you guys like it.
I'm making it and a pecan pie for one dinner and apple dumplings for the other.
are you going to dinner at that lady's place that has her email posted on awkward family?? ;p
I was told to make an "apple pie with crumb topping" this year. No choice.
Has to be crumb. My SIL could give Marney a run for her money. We've had our assigned menu items, complete with crumb topping, since the middle of October.
I'm making the SoCo apple pie and pumpkin bread pudding for dinner at my parents on Friday.
So Tasty, So Yummy
That's what I was thinking. I have a regulation pie dish you could use. I had to measure mine to be sure
Ha! I've had a little more fun with desserts for the kids school Thanksgiving feast this week then actual Thanksgiving!
Crazy Christmas Kids!
hate pumpkin pie... pretty much any pies that have fruit in it I avoid... i know... i'm a weirdo!
But I am making pumpkin butterscotch cookies. LOVE THEM! also, I asked my Mom what to bring, she said "ummm...maybe the rolls?" WTH MOM! I am more capable of baking/cooking stuff than some frozen or store bought rolls. thanks. I said "what else?" she said "uhhhh.. I think I'll do the rest".
What about homemade rolls? If it's what you're stuck with the go all out! This is my job every year.
ditto! I am making Alex Guarnachelli's (i know i didn't spell that correctly) Parker House Rolls... Just because I want to and I don't need to eat them all. lol
I am making the pumpkin praline cheesecake that was on the cover of Southern Living this month.
My mom always makes chocolate meringue pie and my aunt pumpkin or pecan.. I get to be the 'crazy' dessert. LOL
paula deen's pecan pie

Paula Deen Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese icing. So yumm!! And probably some cookies.
