Picture Scanning Service

I'd love to get all of our family pictures scanned and onto digital format. It's literally thousands of pictures. I've tried looking at scanners- but continue to come up empty handed.

So does anyone know of a scanning service in Houston that does this locally. (I say locally b/c I've found that some services are sending your pictures to India... and I'm just not up for chancing these family pics).

TIA

Re: Picture Scanning Service

  • I have no idea, but you might try searching "archiving" and not scanning.

It also might be cheaper to just buy a scanner/printer and hire a high-schooler you may know who could use the extra holiday cash. That's what I would do anyway. I don't like the idea of sending valuable stuff like that off to anyone. It's worth the money to reduce risk to me.

  • if you have a mac, i have one of those small scanners i would gladly sell you.  i bought it for receipts, but have never used it.  because i'm not organized...lol.  my assistant doesn't work on the mac, and i have long since packed the receipt away for this thing.

also, look at Wolf or Ritz camera.  they tend to do stuff like this... or if there is a higher end photo processing lab in your area.  Bay Area Imaging is the only one I know of out here.
