Groupon has a Sams membership for $40, regularly $79.84, today. Is it worth it for a family of 2? Would it be worth it in diapers when LO comes, or would we end up with bulk boxes of diapers that are too small?
Re: Sams Club
Overall, I found amazon to have the best diaper prices with subscribe and save.
That being said, I would pay $50 for the Costco membership over a Sam's membership. Costco is so much nicer than Sam's IMHO.

Diapers will likely be cheapest on Amazon, unless you go Sam's Brand. When we first had DS, Amazon didnt have subscribe and save (or I didnt know about it) and got all my diapers at Sam's once I figured out what kind we liked. You go through them FAST in the early months so you won't get stuck with a bunch.
When I switched to formula, I did the Sam's brand formula which was a great buy.
We use it for all kinds of other stuff... we get printer cartridges, canned goods, cereal bars, paper products (though I think Amazon might be cheaper on those).
Unless there is a new deal I'm missing, I think that Sams groupon is sold out. And, the membership itself is always $40.
I think she is talking about the one on Living Social. It's $40 for a membership and $20 gift card. I got one. I figured it would be a good way to try Sam's. I love Costco, and we'll keep our membership there, but we've talked about looking into Sam's for awhile.
I got one for my mom, we'll use it too. Plus she gets all the extra stuff.
Today in the paper (not sure if it was the Chronicle or local Clear Lake paper), there was an ad for Sams and their Holiday Tasting Event this weekend. On the back there's a coupon/invitation to join. If you bring in the coupon this weekend (18th - 20th) and join or upgrade to the Plus membership, you get a $10 gift card and a $20 certificate to use on Black Friday (min purchase $50).
DH shares the membership with his Mom so I'm going to join this weekend with this deal.
It's just DH & I and we go about once a month or so to browse. We buy laundry detergent, trash bags, seasonal items, clothing and electronics. I like to go and see what's on clearance (anything ending in 0._1). We also buy all our cakes here - yum! Oh and gas too.
Our membership pays for itself. I'd try it out for the year. We had a Costco membership too when we moved here but there's not one close.
i have been unable to beat their prices on electronics (either in store or on amazon) when they have the things i need.
we get tires there, too. i like having the membership for times when i really just need stuff in bulk!
there isn't a costco in our suburb area, so it's a moot point as far as comparison. there's a costco by my office, but i'm not there enough to want to worry about having to coordinate my shopping trips and having room in the car to take stuff home. i've been there with friends before, and to me it was pretty comparable.
