Thanksgiving appetizer, your opinion is requested.

If you were to make a crescent roll pinwheel recipe what would you put inside it?

It will just be 4 adults.  FIL can't have anything too hard as he's almost out of teeth, and neither of them like spicy stuff.  So something that tastes good but they can still eat.  I was thinking something with cream cheese, but have no idea what to put with it.

This is a picture of a pinwheel recipe I'm basing my idea on.

  • First of all, if you figure out how to unroll the stupid crescent rolls so that you can do the pinwheel thing, let me know. I've tried and it never works for me!  I just end up making the normal crescent rolls with stuff inside.

I'm obsessed with crescent rolls, cream cheese and jalopenos lately.  Obsessed.  But since they don't like spicy....maybe just fill them with a spinach/artichoke dip?  Sorry, I'm not very creative when it comes to food stuff!

  • You just unroll the dough so it's a flat rectangle, kind of push the seams together and lay everything out. Cut into strips and roll. Actually I think I cut in half first then cut into strips & roll.

I've had this one pinned for awhile, but it may be too hard for him to eat.

The Pilsbury website has quite a few ideas. One of the pesto ones may work for your group.

You could always just do cheese too - maybe some cream cheese with a bit of cheddar mixed in.

I think it's the opening of the container that always gets me...I usually end up stabbing the middle with a knife...

  • I like to make regular crescent rolls with feta and artichoke hearts :) Yum!

  • You can buy cresent rolls that aren't perforated now. It's just a sheet, like pizza dough or something. Super handy!!
