Rank Poll

I'm making this a clicky so you can keep your rank (or spouse's rank) anonymous but I'm curious to see what the average rank is.

  • Gosh, SMW, you forgot DEPers, people just thinking of joining, people who ETSd, retirees, and mil-mil.

  • Do I choose my rank of Mr. Sookie's? I'm assuming I'm of a high rank than him because being a military wife is the toughest job in the military, and I'm an award winning mil wife! That should put me at least 1 ahead of him.

    You're killing me!!! Smile

For the purposes of my curiosity, if you're dual military just select your rank. I'm just interested to see what the average is on the board.

It depends.  Take his time in service (rounded to nearest year) + length of your marriage (also rounded to nearest year).  If your spouse is enlisted, add the number of his E-whatever.  If your spouse is an officer, multiply that O-whatever number by two.  Add that number to the sum of TIS + LOM, then divide by 4.  Walla.

    This is the correct calculation.

  • Psst - How come there's no E1/E2 and what is this from?
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

You take the higher of the two.  No extra points.

I'm was just being nosy.  The post about the baby registry got me thinking.  I know we've talked about how being in the military doesn't make you a pauper or a gazillionarie but I wanted to see what the middle of the road was for our group.

As far as the E1 and E2...I didn't think people came out of basic with these ranks (for the most part).

In the Marine Corps you do!

  • You do in the AF too, unless you sign up for 6 or have lots of college credits.  Without them, we don't put on E-2 until at least 6 months TIS, then E-3 at least 10 months TIS.

  • I should just add our ranks together... THAT would be awesome.
