  We have a Eureka- "The Boss", which is designed for pet hair. It's very powerful and works great. Lots of attachments, multiple settings (high/low, carpet/hard floor)

  I would def recommend it.

  I have this one and I really like it a lot.  I really wanted to get a Dyson, but couldn't justify spending that much.  This one has been compared to a Dyson model that I was considering.  I actually got my vacuum for $199, but it goes up and down in price on Amazon frequently from what noticed.  I really like this vacuum a lot.  I highly recommend it, as does consumer reports (they have it as a recommended model).

  I will say Dysons are expensive, but you wont have to replace it for a loooooong time. You get what you pay for...maybe family can pitch in for good vacuum, its worth it.
