House Cleaning Recommendations
Anyone have a house cleaning or maid service they recommend? The reviews I can find online are for the most part very mixed.
Thanks!

Re: House Cleaning Recommendations
Sorry, another mixed review here. I bought a deal through Living Social for Miracle Maids last month in preparation for DS's 1st birthday party - it was the same deal that new customers get on their website which I didn't know at the time. I had scheduled the appt a month in advance and they ended up being FOUR hours late - after many hours of stressing me out and numerous phone calls they showed up and never even apologized. The contact just kep saying "this is what happens, we get backed up because other houses add-on services....." In the end, the cleaning was ok - didn't dust the ceiling fans, clean the chandelier, etc so I wouldn't use them.
My sister has gone through at least 5 services and has been disappointed with them all - they didn't relock her door, skipped her appliances, didn't clean her bathtub, etc. It seems that it's VERY hard to find a good company - if you do end up finding one please share because I'd love to have one I could actually rely on.
You might consider hiring an independent house cleaner, as opposed to going through a larger company. They may have greater flexibility, accountability and pride in their work, since they're operating their own business and depend so heavily on referrals and word of mouth for new customers. They often charge more, but for me it's worth it...
Also, when you hire, make sure you have an opportunity to talk with them (via phone, and/or a house walk-thru) where you can talk about your expectations, they can clarify what their "normal" service would include, what things might be extra, etc. etc.
