Weight-loss shakes--WDYT?
One of my FB friends is using/selling body by something shakes (I'm forgetting the actual name right now), so of course I got a message from her about how great they are, how she's lost 12 lbs already, they're WW friendly, etc etc and it's "only" $99 for a 30 day supply.
My first thought is that it's one of those quick fixes and no one can drink diet shakes forever (right?) and she just wants my $$ (but she won't get it HA!)....but maybe my life-long weight struggles have made me bitter....
So, WDYT about weight loss shakes? Worth the $$ and the hype? Fad? And how should I respond to her sales pitch?
Re: Weight-loss shakes--WDYT?
I'd either ignore her or just respond (as many times as necessary) with, "I'm not interested."
Most weight loss shakes have what, 150-200 calories? For that I could have a really yummy (giant!) bowl of broth-based soup, steamed veggies with some cheese, a slice of peanut butter toast, a fruit salad, chocolate milk with a small banana, etc. Those things are delicious! A weight loss shake tastes like...well...a weight loss shake. I'd much rather have the real food!
I kind of like shakes sometimes to mix it up. They're easy to grab and go. I don't want to drink them every day, but they're nice occasionally.
But holy crap, 100 bucks for 30 days?! I can make my own healthy protein shakes waaaaaay cheaper than that.
I tend to think that most, if not all, food marketed as "weight loss products" are total crap. Like blinking said, you can make your own protein shakes for way cheaper and customize them to your tastes. Home-made ones are also healthier and not filled with processed crap.
It sucks when your friends put you on the spot to buy stuff.
