If you are a manager or receive holiday gifts from a manager
what do you give/have you received?
by december, i'll have 4 young women that report to me.
i'll likely get gift cards to one of the local restaurants i know they get lunch or coffee from.
but i'm not super excited about that idea. i also prefer to get them the same thing (ie - one scarf, maybe 4 colors) instead of indiv items that might make them compare. any suggestions? or stick with the gift card?
and what's a good amount? i feel clueless on this.
Re: If you are a manager or receive holiday gifts from a manager
I am a manager with three direct reports. We do not exchange gifts...nor does anyone in my company.
However, I have a friend that used to do this in her position as VP and she used to drive herself nuts with different gifts but ended up with gift cards...$20-$25 each. She did used to do what you are saying about the scarf...but I think she did ornaments or some other small gift that was in that same price range.

I used to be a manager, and I had 4 people reporting to me in my dept. I used to spend about $25 on each of them. I usually did gift cards, but whatever you do it should be the same for all of them so no ones feelings get hurt. I used to also bake cookies and give them each a bundle of Christmas Cookies with the gift card to add a personal touch.
I know your looking for other suggestions besides gift cards but I always found it so hard to find gifts that each one would like if I was going to stick with getting them all the same thing.
I work with sale people and we do exchange. I have done ornaments if everyone celebrates. I like the ones that help by planting a tree or donating to an animal. I also do edible things like a higher end chocolate. bridgewater is great. I try to stay around 10-15 pp.
i'm leaning towards infinity scraves from nordstroms - it's in the price range, and there are three styles i could get 4 colors from that i like enough for them. They are $22-24 each.
they're all young, and this seems to be a trendy item...in olive green, teal blue, charcoal, burnt orange, cranberry...
Give them that with a a gift receipt incase its not their style.
Or tell them no exchanging.
Those scarves are cute but I'd probably just do gift cards to be on the safe side. When I had an actual staff I'd buy gcs for my managers and bake stuff for the minions.
I've gotten a ridiculous amount of regifted items- super obvious when the original gift tag is left on.
I like the gift card idea, but the scarf with a gift receipt is nice, too. How about a mani/pedi certificate to a place near the office? Candles?
