Re: S/O Thanksgiving Poll
I am hosting. I am responsible for cooking it all. My mom will help me in the kitchen. ILs are coming over.
No particular traditions, I just have to have stuffing inside the bird.
So Tasty, So Yummy
Are you hosting? Nope... 30+ relatives would not fit in our 1 bdrm apt. :-)
If not, where are you celebrating? Since our(MrsFaz and I) parents are divorced, we usually go to our dad's side first, then to our mom's but it looks like we are just going to our mom's. Will probably take our paternal gparents some dinner.
We will celebrate with the my in-laws on Saturday since the hubs always has to work the Friday after.
What are you responsible for cooking/bringing? This year we are doing an Italian theme so I will probably make my homemade meatballs and marinara and throw in my homemade spinach and artichoke dip too!
Any particular Thanksgiving traditions? Ummm... we pick the names for our homemade gift exchange and our regular gift exchange, play games and just chillax and have fun! The hubs and I need to start some traditions.
Are you hosting? Nope
If not, where are you celebrating? My parents just moved to College Station & the Aggies play at home this year, so we're spending Thanksgiving Day with them so we can go to the game.
What are you responsible for cooking/bringing? Gluten free dessert & gluten free bread. I'll be helping my Mom cook everything else that morning.
Any particular Thanksgiving traditions? Watching the Ags BTHO TU.
Ditto to this except I didn't know we were doing Italian theme, sooo now I gotta come up with something to bring - bread?? I am really excited about picking names for our Christmas exchanges, especially the Homemade Gifts!!
Are you hosting?
No, going to my aunt's house.
If not, where are you celebrating?
My aunt's house. I'm excited because it will be our big giant family, and my uncle's big giant family as well. My aunt & Uncle got married when I was 6, so his family and our family are very familiar. We don't see them all that often, so I'm excited to be around them again. There will probably be 60-70 people at the gathering.
What are you responsible for cooking/bringing?
I have not yet been directed...lol. Probably pumpkin pie or bread. To my aunts who arrange it all, i'm still one of the kids. I can bake yummy stuff though, so i will probably just be assigned "dessert".
this is our first thanksgiving without my grandma. i feel there will either be a serious lack of desserts this year, or an insane overage of desserts. that's what she usually made, and i'm not sure if we'll be able to fill the gap.
Any particular Thanksgiving traditions?
We all just get together. Usually, when we say grace we light a candle for my grandpa and my dad... so this year it will also be for Nana.
my photography blog
Are you hosting? First year since getting married that we are not hosting.
If not, where are you celebrating? My parents are coming up here to their vacation home and mom is hosting. My husband is currently paralyzed from the waist down so I wasn't sure we could handle it this year. (He was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome in September).
What are you responsible for cooking/bringing? I am in charge of desserts (shock) as well as Corn Casserole, Creamed Spinach and Loaded Mashed Potatoes. (all the ultra healthy stuff!)
Any particular Thanksgiving traditions? This year will be different as we normally host my family as well as Keith's family. Hopefully Keith will be walking by next Thanksgiving so we can get back to our traditions!
Are you hosting? No.
If not, where are you celebrating?
DH hunts Thanksgiving weekend, so I normally spend it with my family. This year my cousins in Friendswood are hosting. We normally celebrate with his family the weekend before, but his parents are going to their lakehouse and we have our Small Group on Sunday afternoon so we aren't.
What are you responsible for cooking/bringing?
Sweet Potatoes and a dessert, Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake this year. I'm also bringing homemade rolls, but that's just because I want to.
Any particular Thanksgiving traditions?
This year we are starting a new one... The girls and I will be delivering food to SAM for their Thanksgiving Feast and will be helping them get set up in the morning before heading out for our own festivities. We also normally spend the night at my SILs with my MIL/SIL and SIL and I head out in the middle of the night for BF shopping while MIL stays with the kiddos. We'll continue that this year. That's my favorite part.
MrsFAZ:
I saw this bread recipe yesterday and wanted to make it but when I called my mom, she already had a bread plan. Maybe you can use it? Looks amazing!!!

INGREDIENTS
DIRECTIONS
Are you hosting?
Yes, we'll be having my Brother, SIL and baby nephew, and Sister and BIL, and DH's dad over
If not, where are you celebrating?
If we weren't hosting - we'd be at DH's Mom and Stepdad's ranch house with that side of his family
What are you responsible for cooking/bringing?
Everything - except I think lil' bro and SIL are bringing rolls, and my sister will volunteer to help in the kitchen
Any particular Thanksgiving traditions?
A&M/UT game, whoever doesn't watch the game plays board/card/dice games at the table
Since thanksgiving is a work day here, we'll be celebrating on Saturday. Some friends are having us over to their apartment for dinner.
I'll be in charge of cornbead dressing, sweet potatoes, cranberries, rolls, wine, and chocolate pecan pie.
And we'll try to make it as authentic as possible and watch college football on DVR.:)
I don't envision us hosting for a long time. This year we are at my aunt and uncle's it's massive, with my our family and my aunt's sister and her family. After it is over some guys come in and clean it all up and my cousins and I pounce on them to make sure we can take leftovers. The first year they hosted all the leftovers got packed up in their fridge before we could get to them!!
I'll probably bring some sort of appetizer. I'm hoping to can some green tomato jam tomorrow and I might make it a little spicy and serve it with crackers and cream cheese.
If not, where are you celebrating? The ILs house
What are you responsible for cooking/bringing? My house - I'll cook a ham, roasted potatoes, green bean casserole (requested), maybe mac & cheese and a salad. The ILs - I'm taking a ham and I'll make something to snack on
Any particular Thanksgiving traditions? not really
