First World Problems - Name Yours
I was THISCLOSE to booking a Disney Cruise for next October about 10 minutes ago. The timing was nice - close to my birthday and our anniversary, it was mid-Hitch for DH so no stress on weather delays keeping him on the rig. It was going to be about $5k for the four of us for a balcony room. Sounds great. Then I realized my baby is starting Kinder next year, so no, we will in fact not be able to travel for a week in October. I checked the rates for the exact same trip the week of Thanksgiving...$12K.
Re: First World Problems - Name Yours
holy schneikes. where were you staying?
and... yes, she will be inschool and you can't vacation all the times you might want to, but OMG HOW CUTE IS THAT GOING TO BE?!?!? also, how is she almost in kinder?

Wasnt there a whole post about this recently... whether its okay to take your kid out of kindergarten for a big trip like this??? I don't know where I stand on that subject but my first gut when I read your post was to say "just do it anyway"
My "First World Problem":
I need a new car before #2 gets here. The car we really want, the Acadia, is in its 5th year and all reports are pointing to new body style in the 2014 model with some upgraded interior features in the 2013. We don't want to pay the money for a new car to have it feel "old" in 2 years, so we likely are going to get something else.
The upside of that is I found a remaining 2011 in one of our other options and DH is test driving it now and we are keeping it for the night so I'll be test driving it tonight.
Balcony cabin on a Disney cruise.
And I don't know how she is almost in Kinder. Seems like it was just yesterday that we were at your house and she was screaming her head off when you were taking her 6 week pictures.
It's just not possible Harmony!! What happened to our little babies?
My FWP for today - Do I buy one DVD player witjh multiple screens for our road trip to Disney or individual tiny DVD players for each girl. Cost is about the same.
Do they like similar movies? If you can only watch one movie, even with multiple screens, and you foresee fights, then I would do the individual ones.
i have a portable one if anyone would like to borrow. it lives in my office in case i have a sibling who needs to be entertained, but honestly, i never use it.

I am supposed to bring an apple pie to DS's potluck tonight. I said I would bake an apple pie... DH says to me... will you just go BUY an apple pie from Dixie House Cafe and save yourself the trouble!!!
I go to buy it... and they're out.
Now... I have no pie.
Big problems, I know.
I want a new car so badly. Sooooo badly... for no other reason than "it's time" for a new car. I'm traditionally the Hollywood Marriage of car owners, I'd trade in my car every 1.5-2 years. I've had the Jeep for 4 years this Thanksgiving. 4 years!!! That's like a million years to me.
But our financial plan is focused on paying off a mortgage and other boring grown-up stuff. There won't be room for a shiny new car for ~3 years. The Jeep will be 7. And it kills me to know that.
This post is hilarious.
My FWP for the day - DH and I want to go to Killen's for dinner, but I'm a slacker and didn't think to make reservations BEFORE today. They don't open until 5. Guess I'll be checking out that steakhouse post from the other day. Blah.
DH lost his iPod. I just bought it last year for Christmas, and he just got a new cell phone so unless he finds it, he'll be going a long time without one. The next person to get new tech in this house will be me.
Also, I heard a rumor this week that during our tech upgrade at work we'll get iPhones. My FWP is that I still haven't figured out how to work my darn Blackberry, and I'm sure once I do I'll have to learn a new thing.
totally feel you on that. I really like my Tahoe, but... I just want a new car. Sadly, DH will get something new before I will so boohoo for me. lol
Love this!
Our flat screen tv displays just vertical stripes when we turn it on; we have to cycle through on/off several times to get the HD display. It's only 3 years old.
I, too, would really love a new car but the one I have is in good shape, has never given us any trouble (aside from routine maintenance things), and has long been paid off. But the inside looks and smells like kids. Sooooo ready for a new ride, just don't want a car payment.
Dropped my laptop and cracked the case. Screen is fine and runs just fine, but it sits a-kilter. I want a MacBook.
