Re: Flu Shot during pregnancy?
Baby Macy is here!
12/09 - Macy (daughter) | 4/10 - Began TTC Baby #2 | 12/10 - Chemical Pregnancy | 1/12 - Miscarriage at 14 weeks | DX - PCOS & Hyperthyroidism
My understanding is that influenza can be very dangerous to a pregnant woman, so, yeah, get one.
Kinda sweet: I got my flu shot before I got pregnant because I knew we were going to TTC, but it was pretty funny when we told my family. My dad is a doctor and without my knowing it, he hauled Khan off and gave him the flu shot himself just because of the outside risk he could get it and my vaccine wouldn't be enough. (Vaccine is quite effective, but still, it was sweet.)
My silly Lily is almost 4.
Married Bio
I also got mine on my OB's recommendation. He said not only does it protect the mother, but it can help protect the baby after birth. (I don't have any info/research to back this up, but that's what he said!)
I also made my H get one because I'm generally a worrier and I wanted the extra protection. Plus they were doing them for free at his office, so why not?

This. Better safe than sorry.
I was pregnant with DS during the height of Swine Flu and I got my flu shot. I was 8 months pregnant when I got the shot and I came down with the flu the very next day. Apparently I got the vaccine just a little too late. Having the flu pregnant is awful and scary. I say better safe than sorry.
And if it makes you feel better, within one week while I was eight months pregnant I: 1) got the flu shot, 2) came down with the flu, and 3) started the regimen of Tamiflu antivirals. Even after all of that, DS just turned two this week and he is a very happy and very healthy little boy.
