so I asked one of my germ-phobic work buddies about the pros and con of flu shot versus nasal spray for my boys (he always reads up on these things)... the conversion segwayed into Gardasil shots - which are now recommended for boys too.
So he ads that Gardesil shots prevent genital warts which can lead ot ovarian, anal and oral cancers... and that he would never want to single again and dating to have to worry about all these STDs
he doesn't know
a) I'm separated and soon to be single,
b) StbX got warts while we were married (I thankfully never got them)
I didn't confide that yes you can be exposed to STDs while married if your spouse is a %$#@&^ and yes I soon will single again and dating to have to worry about all these STDs
*sigh*

Re: awkward conversion about STDs with co-worker
I would have loved to! But it's still to recent and I would have wound up crying instead
(hugs) I'm there after some time...I make cracks all the time, but I also have a bit of a dark sense of humor
Uh yeah. I was married & my STBXH gave me chlamydia. Marriage =/= STD barrier.
Wow yes, definitely ignorant. I didn't get the Guardasil last time I was at the gyno because I thought that I would never be dating and I wouldn't need it but now I'm thinking about getting it if my insurance covers it.
P.s. I would just get your kids the injected flu shot over the nasal spray if you are still debating.
My 5 yr old got the nasal spray flu vac and had a horrible reaction to it. She had like 24 hr flu symptoms, high fever/vomiting. It's the sickest she has ever been in her life. Idk how that influences your decision or not but just sharing my experience.
My X gave me and STD. I am lucky it was not a lifetime gift!
When I started dating BF he thought only sluts/dirty girls got STDs. I was floored! HELLO! Did you not pay attention in health class? I had to have a coming to Jesus talk with him and make him get tested. He is clean luckily, but come on people. Anyone could have an STD and a lot of people do not even know they have one!
