Thanksgiving clicky

Since I need a quick break before diving back in to work. (It's been insane for 2 weeks and I can't even get on here most days!) Looks like everyone else is busy too and the board is slow. Also, too much Christmas, I need more Thanksgiving-related things to get me in the mood and not just bypass the holiday...

Re: Thanksgiving clicky

  • Usually it's just DH's parents, brother with his wife and grandpa. Then we usually celebrate with my parents separately. This year they're having more like a family reunion and my parents are going to be there as well.

  • DH's family (immediate and extended) live in different states, so we go to my mom's side of the family for Thanksgiving every year.  It's grandma, my mom and her siblings and their SOs, all the cousins and their SOs and kids, and the "grand"dogs/furbabies (all the dogs in the extended family).  The dogs play while the people socialize/watch football/eat Smile

  • When it's with my family, it's parents, siblings/spouses/kids (up to 14 people, kids included, but usually 7).  This year we're celebrating with d's family and it's everyone -- last year i think there were 21 adults and 5 kids.

  • Ss- we do three thanksgivings in 2 days. One is with all of my extended family, one is with he's immediate family and one is with my immediate family. It really should just be two thanksgivings, but my mom will use any excuse to cook.
  • it's usually H's fam.. and then we go to my fam too, my brother, dad, gma, uncle, cousin.. that's it.

this year me and SIL are making dinner with MIL. :) I can't wait!

  • We usually do 2 Thanksgivings that weekend. We spend actual Thanksgiving with my family and one day that weekend with the hubs' family. We used to go OOT that weekend with his family. I kinda miss that!

It was supposed to be Saturday but we had to move it for the apple cup! Go Dawgs!!!

  • DH's family is (almost entirely) in Michigan, my dad's in Texas, my mom's local, and I have no siblings.

So, for the past five years, we've hosted Thanksgiving for friends and my mom and her BF come over, too. I picked 'friends' in the poll, though. :)

This year, it'll be eight guests plus the two of us. :) We've had up to two more total people (which made me so glad I registered for 12 place settings of my china!) at most in the past. :)

  • We spend the day w/ my mom, brother (used to be my grandparents but now my gma is too sick to travel).  That night we usually do something w/ my dad's whole side of the fam, aunts/uncles, counsins.

DH fam is on east coast.  We went there several years b/f DH's mom passed away, we haven't gone since.

  • This year my parents are coming to see us. Usually we're alone or when we lived closer to them, we would go to them.

  • I need a SS for this one.  It completely depends on where we are.  If we stay here (like we are this year), it's probably just friends.  Two years ago, DH's family came here, so we had immediate family (MIL, BIL, SIL, two nephews) and friends.

If we visit my family, it's just immediate family (my parents, brother, SIL, niece).

If we visit DH's family...well, if it's in Denver, then it's MIL, aunt, two uncles, cousin.  Possibly some friends.  If it's in California, then it's probably MIL, BIL, SIL, two nephews...and SIL's family (her parents, grandmother, sister, BIL, two nieces, possibly nieces' friends).

  • Thanksgiving is the holiday that we rotate between my parents/siblings (and then DH's mom and her husband come), and DH's dad/stepmom (and his siblings).

We do Christmas together in Seattle and don't travel :)
