ok so, if you want a dessert this is ahhhmazing: http://www.penzeys.com/cgi-bin/penzeys/recipes/DenaMartin.html
we're going to try this recipe this year because my H, B and my sis all love broccoli but H doesn't like the regular broccoli casserole that my mom makes: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/broccoli-mushroom-casserole-10000001892124/
if you want to take an appetizer, i love putting together an pretty cheese platter with a spreadable blue, a sharp cheddar and a mild/moderate brie topped with pistachios and honey (just drizzle a bit..it's pretty and the combo tastes good!) served with bagette/crackers and grapes. maybe an artisnal salami/proscuitto. roasted red peppers and olives are nice too if you want to go that route.
let me know if you need more ideas!
Mac & Cheese is my favorite Thanksgiving side. All baked and warm and yummy.
I was also thinking that baked brie is my favorite app. Guess I like baked cheese.
My cousin's gf brought some guacamole she made with mangos, pomegranate seeds & I want to say jalapenos one year and it was a big hit. My family tore that stuff up.
You need a crockpot recipe or a dessert if you worried about the travel. I really want one of those snap lid crock pots... anyways!
