I've taken 100 Steps back

I have fallen in to this horrible funk that I can't shake. I feel so out of it, emotional, like I can't be happy over anything and even feel like i'm losing interest in Z(nothing that he has done really). I realized that I've fallen back in to this horrible zombie like state that I was in right after XH left. The only thing that has changed is that I started a bcp 2 weeks ago so I think that is the culprit. I started taking my prozac to counteract it and it seems like it was working but now i'm right back to the funk again.

I feel like I'm so overwhelmed too. Between trying to close on my house, working this new job, trying to keep up with school, and my mom's breast cancer I'm going crazy. We also just found out my mom has it in her other breast so they're sending her for another biopsy before talking about surgery. To top it off, all of my friends from my marriage have now added XH on fb. They know what he is like, what he did to me and I thought they hated him as much as me but I guess I'm wrong. Just because he got a new wife and baby doesn't mean he has changed at all. He only married her because he knocked her up and can't afford the CS. He is still doing the same crap he was when we were together.

Re: I've taken 100 Steps back

  • I'm sorry, jaksmom :(

I went back on BCP in March, and I think they are effing with me, too (but more physically than mentally). I'm thinking of stopping them after the next month.

I was actually just looking up that book Taking Charge of Your Fertility that everyone talks about on here.

  • I'm sorry to hear you're having a tough time.  ((hugs))

It is good that you're recognizing it and can help yourself.  Are you in counseling?

This is a great resource--I read it and charted when XH and I were TTC.  Even though I'm no longer TTC, I'm so aware of my body that I know when I'm ovulating (fertile) and when to expect my period even without taking my temp.   (note: results not typical ;) )  I highly recommend this if you want to get off BCP.

I will never go back on the pill--it took my body so long to regulate that I hated knowing that I was on something for 10 years that was the likely culprit.

  • It has really messed me up since having my son. I haven't been on anything in the last year and a half. I was having some problems mostly with heavy bleeding so they put me on this particular pill. It's suppose to be pretty strong.

Someone I work with called it the eeyore effect and it's very fitting to the way I feel.

  • You can always switch BCPs if this one isn't working out for you - there a gazillion of them on the market. How about some talk therapy? Sounds like that might be helpful for you.
  • With my crazy schedule at work flipping around every other week I haven't been back to counseling since beginning of Oct. I have an appt on the 30th because that is the next 6pm appt she has available.

You should talk to your gyn about Mirena. I went with the Paragard about 4 months ago, and while it sucked in the beginning (I assume since I haven't had any children), now I absolutely love it. Mirena drastically lightens or even stops periods for most women who use it.

  • I'm sorry to hear that, Jaksmom.  I'm glad you've got a counseling appt. lined up.  Perhaps there are other BCPs or other birth control methods that would work better for you that your gyno could recommend?

I don't think I can use Mirena or anyother IUD. I had cervical cancer before my son and I think they said you can't get it. I'm also missing part of my cervix from surgery to remove the cancer. The whole period really wasn't the problem. I would have  horrible abd pain the night before starting and wake up to something short of a murder scene with my clothes saturated. I've had ultrasounds galore but no diagnosis.

I'm also leary about switching around again. The last one I was on was depo and it made me premenapausal then coming off of it threw me in to underactive thyroid.

  • Along with what everyone else say, is it possible to take a sick day off from work to have alone time for yourself to regroup?

I'm really sorry to hear that. :/ In that case I have no advice, but I hope you can beat the funk soon.

I actually have a lot of problems with pills also with heavy and continuous bleeding - like the whole month. I went to the dr. a few months ago and wanted to get an IUD, but it was somthing I would have to order and it was a whole process - so I asked for something in the meantime. Stronger pills - something. She recommended the ring, and although highly skeptical at first, because I've heard how they like to push it,  I love it now. No more 19 day periods and I don't feel it, I also haven't noticed any side effects either. I think its the continuous release. If you have issues with low-hormone ones and the high hormone ones make you feel like a zombie...maybe the continuous release would help with both issues.

If you are looking for the love of your life, stop. He will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love.
  • I don't really have any more advice than what the others are suggesting, I just wanted to say I hope things start looking up for you soon.  Hang in there!

  • I've been on the ring before. The only thing I didn't like about it was the heavy discharge it caused and my body kept contracting to push it out.

  • Feel better soon. I love Seasonale. That said, if you are having issues a couple months from now, I wold go condom only. No pill should make you need prozac...but give the pill time to adjust too
