Houston Dog Rescue?

Hi ladies, I am new to the Houston area (Katy- Cinco SW). Today on my way home a dog was running down S. Fry Rd near Spring Green Blvd. I didn't want it to get hit by a car so I picked him up and took him to my vet to see if he was microchipped.  He's not. I'd prefer to take him to a no-kill shelter/rescue but being new to the area I'm not sure which ones are. Any help would be much appreciated! TIA!

Re: Houston Dog Rescue?

  • If the dog looks to be purebred you can contact a breed specific rescue. If he looks to be a mutt then you might try Scout's Honor, Citizens for Animal Protection, Furry Pals Rescue, Zeke Fund or Corridor Rescue. The only problem with this is that they would probably need a foster to step up or for you to keep the dog until its adopted. If you are looking to just drop the dog off then I think most shelters that allow you to drop off a pet in Houston are all kill-shelters.

  • Also, Safe House Rescue has helped me with a stray but I had to foster.
