Thanksgiving Help!

Every year, we spend Thanksgiving with my husband's family.  However, we decided to do a fakesgiving the Sunday before at our house so we can spend time with my family too (my family hasn't celebrated Thanksgiving in 5+ years).

There will be 7 adults in attendance, and an 18 month old.  Is a 3lb boneless turkey breast enough?  It says 12 servings, but this thing looks tiny

My mom is also bringing a baked ham, and we are going to have a whole slew of appetizers, sides, and desserts.  We could care less about leftover since we'll be repeating this on Thursday.

Should I buy another 3lb boneless turkey breast??

Re: Thanksgiving Help!

  • One three pounder should be enough, epecially if there is also a ham and lots of other stuff.

    Sounds like fun!

  • If it's 3lb of just breast meat and you're having ham with it you should be ok.  I'm doing dinner for 10 and planning a 20lb turkey, but that's the whole turkey and these people were actually offended last year when I didn't plan to have left overs.  So much for only buying what you need...
  • Thanks everyone.  I'm just going to stick with the 3lb then.

  • As a follow-up, I am soooo glad we didn't buy a 2nd turkey breast.  What we had was more than enough, and we still ended up with leftovers!
