So what are your plans for Thanksgiving? Traveling, hosting, working, etc?
Re: Thanksgiving plans
We're hosting. My IL's from Chicago are coming as well as DH's sister from Pittsburgh (his other sister in Tucson never comes out this way for the holidays). On Thursday my parents & aunt will come down for dinner. Since I'm an only child it's easy for my parents to come, no other places to split their time & both families get along great w/each other!
DH and I will be going over to FIL's house for dinner on Thanksgiving day.
If my mom ends up staying home, I will probably drive up to see her Fri-Sun (DH can't go, he's too busy writing his thesis). If my mom goes to Indiana, I will stay home and possibly make a turkey of my own. I love turkey and they're so cheap this time of year, I can't pass that up!
For Thanksgiving day we go over to my IL's for dinner, I do nothing just show up! It wonderful
For my family we all head up north to my sister cabin on Friday and do Thanksgiving up there on Saturday. It's nice to all just be stuck in a cabin together. There are 10 adults, 7 kids and usually at least 3 or 4 dogs! hahah We have the most fun!!
I'm hosting, but nothing major. MIL and FIL are coming over and I'm cooking! I'm really excited to cook though!!! I decided to do Cornish Game Hens (instead of Turkey) and I hope no one gets upset about it. I think they should be delicious though!
I plan on getting up early on Friday and going shopping (not crazy early though, like 8am)

My parents always have Thanksgiving at their house, and they're only 10 minutes away. It'll be pretty quiet this year which is just the way I like it. Basically just my parents, my bro/SIL, the four of us, and another family friend who is more like a Grandma to us all. We'll probably spend the whole day there just being with family.
DH has to work on Friday which is stupid stupid stupid, so my Mom and I will probably hang out and start baking Christmas cookies.
We'll go down the street to my MIL's. I was going to host, but we didnt find out until yesterday if we had to work or not and I unfortunately have to work 5-10pm

Losing it...Without Losing it
This year is a little wonky because it was technically my family's year (we switch between the two) BUT BIL/wife are in from Chicago and she's due early Jan so they won't be coming home for Christmas. Since we wanted to see them, we are spending Thanksgiving at ILs.
I am only *slightly* annoyed about Turkey Day - MIL serves dinner at 4:30....except it's ALWAYS late. Last year we ate at 6:30. And I was starving by the time we ate. Oh and they invite 40ppl to their 2000sq ft home. So not only are we hanging around in a packed house waiting for a late dinner, there isn't anywhere for people to sit because the one table is where they lay out the food.
Everyone has to sit on the floor/arm of chair/etc balancing paper plates full of food on our knees. A few lucky people (ummm like 10?) get an actual seat on the couch/recliners. But there's no actual table for anyone. Their house just isn't designed for that many people. And I am just not looking forward to the crabby baby who will be super overstimulated by the bedlam plus his bedtime is between 7-7:30. I already told H I am leaving at 6:30 with the baby. Everyone (i.e. MIL) can just deal with it.
But on Friday my sister/family and my Dad are coming for Turkey at my house. That is what I'm looking forward to, especially since she is helping with the cooking so I only have to worry about the turkey and stuffing.
