ATT or Verizon for Iphone service

We currently have ATT right now, and our service is pretty awful, specially at home, sadly my DS dropped my Iphone 3GS in the tub, and it's just not working properly at all no matter what I do, although we do have apple care, but apple will not fix it unless I pay $149.

It will be $60 if I cancel my plan with ATT and transfer to Verizon, just wondering if Verizon's service will be any better ? .

Sadly my contract with ATT will end in 4 weeks was really trying hard to hold out and not have to pay extra, but with 3 kids I really need a cell phone.

  • As of right now, Verizon's coverage is better, AT&T's data is faster.  So if you're having trouble making calls or using data at home, go with Verizon.

  • Thank you so much!.
  • If you had the 3GS I'm assuming you have the unlimited data right now? If so, STAY with AT&T.

  • First of all, your puppy is adorable!  Second, coverage can really vary depending on the area you live in.  Verizon has better nationwide coverage, but it may be different where you live so I suggest asking around to see if you know anyone who has Verizon.  It seems like your AT&T coverage is pretty crummy, so hopefully you'll have better luck with Verizon.

I actually find Verizon to be faster than AT&T, at least where I live/work.  I don't have an iPhone, but of my friends with iPhones, those with Verizon have faster service consistently.

  • Thanks everyone. Sadly it looks we may stay with AT&T. we are due for upgrade with AT&T, so it will cost nothing at all to get the new phone beside paying for the phones that is, where as if we go with Verizon I would have to break my contract and end up costing $120 to do so, and also to have the same current plan/minutes we have now with AT&T which is only $90/month, and unlimited data plan, Verizon will cost us $120/month and the data plan is not unlimited, sigh.
  • You can't multitask on Verizon (or Sprint) due to how their networks are configured.  I'm sticking with AT&T so that I can do other things while people talk my ear off :)

Lol, that was another deal breaker for me too ;).

  • I don't blame you one bit for sticking with AT&T for the unlimited plan!
