7 Foods Experts Won't Eat
Re: 7 Foods Experts Won't Eat
i'm going to give you my mantra: ignorance is bliss and food is tasty.
; )
my photography blog
Oh, don't get me wrong, I LOVE food and eat it all. Just thought this was interesting. It, doesn't effect the foodie side of me.
but these are still things you can eat, you just eat them differently! I don't eat micro popcorn anymore, don't buy farmed salmon, buy grass fed beef when I can, I buy organic milk. I buy organic apples because I swear I can taste the residues on conventional ones. Potatoes, we don't buy all that often so I don't usually go for the organic ones, and I tend to lean towards sweet potatoes, which do not have the same pesticide concerns.
The thing I have to work on is canned tomatoes. I do buy the cartons and wish I could find them in jars more around here, but canned is usually what I grab. The only other thing I buy regularly in cans is beans, and I buy the Eden Organic ones that are in the BPA-free cans. I wish more companies would switch.
Yep! I eat enough HFCS for a family of four, I am sure, by my daily Coke intake. My great grandmother did and lived until she was 90. It seems like absolutely everything is bad for us now.
I think the argument is that more pesticides are used now than when our grandparents were young.
I started really paying attention to this after a report came out while I was pregnant. In the report it stated that the pestides that are used on strawberries and blueberries have been linked to causing ADD in children. They said that the brains of children are still developing and are more susceptible to the chemicals that our fruit and vegetables absorb. They advised pregnant women to only eat organic strawberries and blueberries and to to feed your children organic.
I really started paying attention to what I was purchasing after that and I feel I would whether be safe than sorry. It is more expensive but it does give me some peace of mind.
