Organizing

I'm looking for some organizing tips for my daughters bedroom. She has lots or books and stuffed animals, I also would like to organize her closet a little better. My husband and I have a walk in closet and I would like to organize it a little better as well. If anyone can give me some helpful hints on how to organize some clutter. (Clutter because I dont know what to do with it.) My daughters toys too, WWYD?

 TIA!

Re: Organizing

  • It depends on your space and the type of stuff you have. DS has a lot of stuff and a really small room so it's pretty organized out of necessity.

We have one of those cube bookshelves in the hallway for all the kids to use. It has books in a lot of the cubes with some canvas bins in some cubes for misc. toys.

He has a hanging organizer for stuffed animals

He has a standard size closet with sliding doors. I use one side for clothes and the other side for toys. He has one piece PJs, jackets, sweatshirts, and tees all hanging up. Under that he has one of  these for shoes topped with 2 or 3 of these for pants, shorts, and 2 piece PJs (because those are hard to hang up):

On the other side of the closet he has a thing with bins for toys.

I like the toy bins because all the toys are easily visible and it's easy for a toddler to put toys away in it. The hanging organizer keeps the massive amount of stuffed animals at bay but they're hard to get out so it's really only for decoration. I love the closet organizers. One word of advice about the cube bookshelf is that tall books don't fit upright on it. So I only have smaller books on it.

I have an Ikea cube bookshelf in the living room. The bottom has books (even the largest books we have fit in it), larger toys that all kids play with in the living room, and a few bins with a couple of toys (they're mostly empty now - I suspect they'll be full after Christmas). The top 2 rows of cubes are for other random non-kid related stuff.

The girls room is a lot bigger than DS room so we don't need to organize as much. They have a bookcase doll house thing, a few baskets, and a toy bin / bench thing (I can't seem to find it online but I got it at Target). They'll probably be getting a bin storage thing like DS has for Christmas and the baskets will go away.

  • We have a 6 opening - cubicle for DD's room, I use 4 bins/baskets to store toys in the cubicle.

We have a 3 shelf system in her closet, I use more baskets and bins for things in there like hats, etc.

  • I'm currently organizing our pantry and fell in love with these free downloadable labels.
