I am so glad it's Friday.

Haven't been around much this week. I've only worked two full days since last Wednesday.

We went out of town last weekend to see relatives 8 hours away with an 11 month old. 937 miles in three days. Had to borrow my mom's SUV since I was pretty sure both of our 2-door POSs would likely not make the trip. Got home late on Sunday night. Like, midnight late, and I still had homework to do. This was after I got the call from H on Wednesday night that his clutch went out. So Thursday morning was spent hauling him around to work, all the way back home because his stupidass forgot his wallet. Stopped at my corner gas station on the way back, guy stole three cartons of cigarettes, and another guy and I tackled him as he made his way out the door. Late to work Thursday after driving around the entire Twin Cities.

Left early Friday. Baby Malibu did well on the trip, although when we arrived, she'd blown out a diaper up to her armpits. "Hi relatives who've never seen her, here's our poo-soaked child!" Nice intro. Spent the whole weekend driving around northern MN and ND visiting H's extended family, hardly slept at all. As stated before, got home at midnight Sunday. Did homework till 2 a.m. Got up for work at 6. Left early to come home and do more homework - but not before having to drive to meet a tow truck driver at H's work (he was helping another store do inventory) after the new clutch went out. Again. Had to pick him up in Wisconsin. Get baby. Drive home. Up till 2 again doing homework.

Tuesday I actually worked a full day. Was excited to get a decent night's sleep. Instead, I woke up at 1:45 in the morning and proceeded to inexplicably throw up all over my bathroom. Didn't go back to bed till 4. Got up at 6. Went to work. Got call from daycare that Baby Malibu had blown out a diaper and had no extra clothes. Leave. Bring clothes. Go back to work. 2:30 get the call I have to pick her up, she's got a 103 temp and exploding diapers all day long.

Out yesterday with sick child. Changed more diapers in one day than I have in the last week. Take her to the doctor, she has a massive ear infection, a stomach virus, and oh boy, gets blood drawn to test for liver function because she's yellow. She's dehydrated, so the first try, her little vein collapses. She screams for 20 minutes. Rest of the day is miserable. She went to my mom's last night so I could actually work a full day today. I'm totally out of PTO now after the last week. She'll be a year old on the 5th of December; this was our first bout with an illness other than a minor cold or ear infection. I can't believe how much I felt like a clueless first time mom (which I am) not having any idea what to do with my sick child.

Even though I didn't put in a full 40 hours this week...I am so, so, so glad it's Friday and next week's a short week. I'm running on empty and there's not enough caffeine in the world right now.

At least there's been some interesting TIP stories to read, the few times I've gotten on TN. No real point to this, other than to say hi and missed everyone this week. I've had better weeks, that's for sure. Oh and the kiddo cracked the screen on my brand new iPhone 4S. H is going to be pissed!

Oh, FFS.

Re: I am so glad it's Friday.

  • Wow, got to be way longer than I thought. Sorry!
    Oh, FFS.
  • You had an eventful week with tons of driving.  I am sorry baby Malibu is sick.  Is she doing any better?
  • From the sounds of it, no. My mom's had to give her several baths today, and she's gone through all FOUR outfits plus two pajamas I packed for her one day there. It's going to be a fun night. She started antibiotics for the ear infection, so I'm guessing that's not helping the nasty diapers at all. The one "good" thing about her being sick is she's cuddly, something she's not when she's well. I hate to see her sick, but she's spent several days cuddling with me and that's been sweet.
    Oh, FFS.
  • I hope she gets better soon.  It can't be fun for her going through all of those outfits.  Poor thing!
