Re: Can I use Dawn Dish soap in my dishwasher??

  • I've been out of detergent before so I've used dish soap. I can't exactly give you a measurement but a little dash will do!

Regular dish soap suds up a lot more than dishwashing detergent.

    Becareful!

  • OOh now I'm scared... Like the size of a quarter?

  • I wouldn't. My mom did this right after her and my dad got married and the suds started coming out into the kitchen! If you do... I would use just the smallest bit!

  • maybe a little smaller. maybe the size of a nickel, if that. good luck! If you do get a suds overload- salt instantly dissolves the suds....not that you want a salty kitchen floor but it will make them go away instantly.. you can always mop !!

  • i've used it before, only 2-3 DROPS.lol or you will have a big mess of suds on your floor.

  • Doing it may also violate the warranty on your dishwasher.  I know this was last night, but really, wait to run it and buy some tomorrow.
  • I wouldn't. If you are unsure of the quantity, it could end badly. I accidently did this a few weeks ago... there were suds all over the kitchen. Took like 3 rinse cycles to get all the suds out of the dish washer.
  • I did it in college once.  It ended in a total disaster and it didn't even clean my dishes.

My mom did the same thing and it ended up breaking our dishwasher. I wouldn't do it!
