Came home after shopping, opened the door to the bedroom and was greeted by my dog and the gigantic mess she made. The kicker? I put her in her crate before I left.
I have ZERO clue how she got out. but the crate door was bent so I assume she squeezed her 60 lb fatass through the door somehow. Nearly 9 years I have had her and that is definitely a first.

Crate, toothpaste, brand new carpet, DH tennis shoe, plastic bag, 2 pillows, my last nerve: 0
DH is on a flight back home right now...I cleaned up most the mess, left the carpet for him to figure out. WTF?!?!?!

Re: Sh!t my dog ruined
Can I put the youngin' in a crate too? I'll put the dog and kid in there together to get each other company.

My parents' 100lb black lab / greyhound mix was a Houdini like that. He has separation anxiety so they had to leave in him a crate while they were gone or he would tear stuff up. So he learned out to escape without leaving a mark on the cage and still tore up the house. I have no idea how they learn to do that.
Oh, and we basically have DD in a cage for a good portion of the day. For kids they call them "playpens," though, to make them sound more friendly. ;-)
I think your parent's dog and my dog have the same crazies.
Poor thing, I can't even be mad at her. I'm too impressed by sheer will and determination and I know it is that she HATES being away from her pack. Her separation anxiety is terrible.

that realy sucks
Oh Marilyn! I feel your pain.
My old dog used to get into everything! Random things she ate/destroyed: taco kit, baby powder (left paw prints all over the floor), cake mix, hershey kisses (pooped out the foil), crayons (pooped out colored pieces), gum (she smelled minty fresh, was actually chomping away on it when I walked in the room) and she also knocked a bottle of creme de mint off the bar which broke and she licked up. I am sure there are more things but this is what I remember. I will say none of it really made her sick or anything (except the taco kit gave her the runs). She is lucky she was cute!
And every time we go in a baby store DH is always talking about the "baby jail" (a.k.a.- playpen) and when are we getting one.
Pooped out foil and colored crayons=sweetjesus dying here.
