well water

We have a well for water and I HATE it!  Besides the chem lab looking equipment on the side of our house and my hair not lathering up as well as it did with city water the thing that irks me the most is my dishes after they run through the dishwasher.

After it's completed  it's cycle everything has a film. Glass is not clean looking it has a white looking residue I'm guessing from calcium or something??

I've tried a bit of vinegar before running but that didn't seem to work.

Any suggestions?????????? My poor baby's bottles look dirty!

Re: well water

  • I find I get this some too. I think it helps to run my dishwasher on the hottest cycle and I also use Jetdry. Have you had your water tested? It may be high in something causing the dishes to have that residue on them.

If ours starts to get really bad with it I'll go buy one of the dishwasher cleaners and run that too.

  • We use Lemi shine. We have insanely hard water and are in the process of looking at different water softeners.  Also they make a shower head with a filter that improves the hair situation, I don't remember the brand. Several of the ladies on MM have it.

Www.lemishine.com. Their rinse agent is a lot better than jet dry for hard water when used with the original powder.

The film wasn't as much of a problem before they removed phosphate from the detergent.
